One of the things I worry about as someone who recommends comics to a lot of people, is that I may skew toward something that I enjoy more than something that is universal, or that something that I recommend goes downhill. For example, Uncanny X-Force is a title I’ve been suggesting a lot recently, yet I’ve discovered that I’m no longer enjoying the book myself.

Animal Man is another thing I’ve been recommending on a regular basis, and I am relieved to find it continues to be a book that not only am I enjoying but that our number of subscribers increases for every month.

Pugh’s art is not my favorite. (I hate noticing when faces are lined it takes me out of the book. I noticed it three or four times over the course of this issue.) But I do enjoy the way he lays out a page.

Lemire, whose pacing is not always to my taste, is still killing it with this book. I can’t wait to see how this book interacts with Swamp Thing, which is another book I suggest frequently.
