  1. The preview for this was excellent.  Great dialogue, pacing, art.  For that preview, I will get this.  Plus it ties into ASM.

  2. Really dug Javier Pulido’s work in past issues of ASM and hot covers by Amanda Conner?…sweet!

  3. Crap!  I didn’t notice that this had Amanda Connor doing covers.   Now I am going to have to buy these.  (I was on the fence already.)

  4. Once this announced, I decided to skip the American Son mini-series and get this one. The creative team is top notch and I am very excited about this book.

  5. OOh, Black Cat, smexy, defintley getting this!

  6. I love me some Black Cat!!!

  7. This was quite good. I was surprised as I’m not reading the main Spider-Man book. The art was good, too. But there were some panels that were downright ugly. The writing was sharp, but the book did feel like it slowed down a lot in the middle of the book, being a little unnecessarily text heavy. As well, Spider-Man’s just showing up felt like a wild stab to make this book fit into the Grim Hunt rather than an organic extension of the narrative. 4/5

I do feel the need to comment that the Black Cat/Spidey relationship in the issue seemed off from my knowledge of how the two work. However, I’m not a fan of the current Spider-Man status quo so I gave it a pass as being based off of that, but some comments I’ve heard around the ‘net seem to indicate it’s out of place. Can anyone clarify?

  8. Nah, I think this is right in place with continuity, honestly.  Spider-Man has been having these little on and off one-nighters with Black Cat lately in the regular ASM series (probably to help justify the need for his bachelorhood) and it’s funny because she only wants him masked (too convenient).  The background with the Russians is relevant since we’re dealing with the whole Kraven family "Grim Hunt" right now in ASM.

I thought the issue was great, a lot of fun, can’t wait for the second issue.

  9. Uh, was this a actual 30 page book or 22 pages with a bunch of crappy extras?

  10. @TexasZombie The whole Felicia only likes Spider-Man thing and they do it with the mask on is a pretty old gag. I was just commenting that to my knowledge the characters were more flirty, flirty than physical. It’s no issue with the book, just kinda being slapped in the face with the current status quo that I don’t read anymore. :-p My problem was more Spider-Man just swings in out of nowhere to advance and set up the plot, it felt jarring that 2 pages into the book (which went sans the "Amazing SPider-Man Presents Banner I noticed) titled Black Cat, Spidey appears.
