  1. My rekindled love for the X-Men continues with this phenomenal series, really loving Marquez’s art on it but every cloud with the return of Immonen later this month!

  2. This has been a incredible run so far.

  3. Does anyone know when the X-Men and the Avengers first crossed paths/teamed-up?

I was just thinking about what it would be like for Tony or Steve to see a young Scott and Jean again, and it got me curious about what their earlier encounters might have been like.

Looking forward to this as usual.

  4. Best X-men series in a long time. The art alone is worth the price of admission!

    • I agree although i would place wolverine and the xmen right there with it.

    • I have been finding Wolverine and the X-Men really blase recently, haven’t read a bad issue of All New X-Men yet though. Loving it.

    • Ya it hasnt been the same as it was pre a vs x but to be fair you may feel that all new xmen is blase after 25 issues as well. Judging on the first 7 issues of each i was similarly surprised by both books quality. I wasnt expecting much from either of them i guess though, and low expectations normally help to amp up the fun.

  5. I love this book so so so so very much. Between this and Uncanny X-Men, I’m pretty sure that Bendis has completely revitalized any interested he may have lost in his too-long run on Avengers.

Also….as much as I love Immonen’s art….am I in the minority that may actually have found myself preferring Marquez’s by just a little bit????

    • I’m with you. I’ve found myself having just a slight preference for Marquez’s art. But I’m lovin’ both of them on the book.

    • I know what you mean. I love Immonen, but Marquez has really impressed me, especially since I wasn’t looking forward to someone replacing Immonen.

    • Some of the specific things that I’ve really liked about Marquez, beyond the generally nice layouts and such, are that he actually draws the teen 5 as teens; he draws an especially nice Jean, which really shines through in the emotional close-ups; and (pet peeve of mine) he usually draws characters that are speaking with mouths that are open and moving.

    • Yes! Marquez drew the teens like teens and it works a lot better. Hopefully Immonen took notes. Not complaining though. It’s been a great team and has given me no reason to gripe about double shipping or multiple artists.

    • I definitely prefer Marquez.
He was wonderful on Ultimate Spider-Man, which centers around a teen.

  6. Does anyone know when the trade is coming out? I thought I heard April or May but not sure

  7. Did I forget something? I remember the Avengers at the end of Uncanny #2, but All-New?

  8. Beast’s leg looks like Black Widow’s butt.

  9. Wow. Oh wow. I didn’t see it coming, and it was AWESOME. Bendis nailed it. This is the best X-Men book in decades.

  10. A good issue punctuated by a very scary cliffhanger. I love moments that make me reevaluate what a series is actually going to be about.

Still taking a bit long to get the actual plot going, but a fun ride nonetheless.

  11. This was AMAZING. Totally felt for Warren wanting to get out of here and realizing that nothing but bad things is in store for him in the future. And the ending…WOW. Haven’t read my whole stack yet but this might just be my POTW.

  12. Fantastic roller coaster from adventure to comedy to “oh, $#!^”. Bendis is bringing it.

  13. Good issue.

I really enjoyed how Cap was actually saying what Bobby thought he’d be saying when Scott walked up. Nice touch. Good characterization all around.

The ending raises a lot of questions. Why would Jean still behave this way having seen her future flash before her eyes? Wouldn’t seeing that make her evaluate every move she makes? Or did seeing that help her realize her potential to change the world? Is it a comment on how people are who they are and make the same mistakes regardless of the path they choose? Great food for thought.

    5/5

  14. Really good issue with a great cliffhanger, but not quite my pick of the week!

  15. IM SO SICK OF AVENGERS IN MY X-MEN ! That being said, it was a geat book with a fantastic final page.

  16. I’ve been loving this series, I definitely agree with Sumguy – keep your Avengers out of my X-books! But, the book as always was extremely enjoyable.

  17. Am I the only one that has a problem with Kitty acting like a 12 year old or spider-man in this issue? Was she deaged as part of marvel now and I didnt know it?

    • I liked that bit a lot!

Kitty’s not THAT old (I know the futility of trying to nail down character ages, but I’d put her at about 25 if I had to). And given the amount of pressure she’s been under until recently as headmistress of the school, and the fact that she’s been spending a lot of time with funny-guy Bobby Drake lately, I thought it was totally appropriate (and endearing) for her to get a little goofy.

One of the strengths of Bendis’ run so far is that he’s delivering the big, serious drama but also nailing the character interactions.

    • God, that Kitty/Bobby bit was a riot. Loved it.

    • I think Bendis has been doing great with Kitty

    • Loved it! I had their mocked voices in my head, it really made me laugh. And the expressions were gold. I DID think it was weird hearing 1960’s Bobby calling Warren “Dude”. Seemed out of place. Thats my nitpick, but that was also my one and only fault with an awesome issue. POTW.

    • Yeah, i know it’s hard to pin down ages. But I guess in my head, post collossus’ death and her time with Wisdom and even into the headmistress spot it made her seem more mature/serious than that. I agree it was funny and thought the interaction was good, just didn’t feel like kitty I had remembered reading since the 80’s

  18. Just a great, fun read. You had a nice bit of action from the two Angels and Hydra, hilarious dialog from Kitty and Bobby, and a nice cliffhanger that really sets the tone for what I gotta imagine will be the next arc or running theme of the series.

    POTW here.

  19. This book is getting pretty good reviews.

Maybe I’ll subscribe for another dozen issues.

Guess I should read the ones I’ve got.
