  1. I like Bendis and always liked Ultron as a villian, but a weekly event that I heard is going to lead into another Marvel event just seems a little too over board to me.

  2. Excited for the hardcover collection.

Excited for the torren… hey hey! I was only joking! Don’t stone me!

Can’t afford the weekly run and I’m skipping the .AU tie-ins as well, but if it’s any good and they are collecting everything in a reasonably priced HC down the road I might get it. I’m quite interested.

    • Same for me. I’m interested in this, but Gabe’s column last week (about culling your collection) has got me rethinking what I’m picking up in single issues. Given the fact that this is shipping so quickly, and that the AVX collection came out very promptly after that series wrapped up, I feel okay waiting a few months.

    • Yeah I will be going through my boxes within the next couple of weeks, and have decided not to pull this and two image minis I was going to buy this week. I have a big pile of unread books as well.

  3. BOW BEFORE ULTRON!!! I am so excited for this!!!!

  4. So glad the stupid red banner isn’t at the bottom of the cover.

  5. This is all clearly going to be resolved by someone going back in time and stopping Ultron before he can take over.

  6. This cover is great but I really want the Skottie Young varient!

  7. With Marvel Now, I’ve stepped into reading more. I remember Ultron and he’s been talked about all over the place with the Runaways and Moon Knight. I think this is a great villain. Very ready for this!

  8. I’m totally into this…. I love Ultron as a villain, and I feel like Bendis has totally taken it upon himself to make t his his landmark Marvel event….. Been planning and talking about it for years. I have a really good feeling about this. (Bizarro Han Solo)

  9. Fat chance!

I hope that the characters from Bendis’ Moon Knight (like Buck Lime and ghost-Echo) are in this.

  11. Just like Ken said, Gabe`s article about the whole has got me thinking about what I really want to read instead of being impulsed into it. I want to read this mostly because it`s a big summer even but consider how long it is has got me considering waiting for the HC or trade. The other big summer even Thanos Rising is kind of more up my alley anyways and considering it`s only 5 issue with no crossovers with other issues is a big plus.

  12. I would skip this (not an event guy) but I like the art team. Trade waiting is a great question…I’m guessing that this might not have great re-read value so I’m going w/ floppies. But if it really wows me, I’ll flip to trade waiting.

  13. Fool me once (fear itself) shame on me, Fool me twice (AvsX) shame on you…. Won’t fool me again.
Probably won’t buy into another Marvel “event” ever again.

It honestly just seems like not more than a month ago Marvel was screwing up issues of awesome books like Wolverine and the X-men with stupid crossovers.

    So over marvel events.

  14. I’m curious to see how Marvel’s method of releasing tie-in issues along with standard issues of the series works out. I here a lot of complaints about crossovers tainting some creator’s stories, so this might somewhat obviate that? …Might?

  15. Excited for this. Been a long time coming. Ultron is one of the best villains in comics and it’s always exciting when he shows up. Just hope that they don’t kill off any of my favorite characters during it. (I’m looking at you She-Hulk! I’ve seen the cover where Luke Cage is holding her!).

  16. Meh. Probably going to skip the rest of this.

  17. An exciting intro to a neato event that doesn’t look like it’ll take over the whole line (spin-offs notwithstanding).

Plus, it has a CHROMIUM COVER! When have those ever not been cool?

  18. They killed off Echo? when did that happen?

    • Avatar photo PymSlap (@alaska_nebraska) says:

@conradf1970 In 2011, maybe. She died in Los Angeles fighting the rise of a new King Pin in Bendis and Maleev’s Moon Knight.

    • Not a fan of Maleev’s work so no suprise i missed that one. Pretty bummed out though, thought she was a great addition to the Marvel universe

  19. As i recall wasn’t Ultron the leader of the Phalanx during the Annihilation event??? Just saying he could just wipe them out right? I’ll read the beginning to see if any of these threads are kept up with or are they just gonna disregard this. Because i loved the Abnett and Landing events. The space operas they did were amazing. Then i was more involved in the space Marvel then regular Marvel.

    • If I remember correctly his body was destroyed during one of their cosmic epics and his consciousness recently found its way into the body of a space knight on Earth. Basically he woke up and was like “What the F?” It happened in the Avengers free comic book day issue and we haven’t seen him since.

  20. That was cool. Great art
Got issue 1 on a whim – may have to buy the rest now

Chromium cover! 90’s throwback – for issue 2 I want a hologram and a poly bag with collectible cards please

  21. Really didn’t like this. Sorry to poop and run, but wow, this wasn’t doing it for me at all.

    • Its cool, to each their own. Just leave it at that and don’t feel the need pointlessly remind us of your dislike EVERY issue like others are known to do.

  22. Seems like a lot of people want to hate this book but I rather enjoyed it. The art was good and seeing how heroes react in a post-apocalyptic scenario is interesting.

    • Agreed. I thought the art was great except for the cover. I’ve skipped the last umpteen event books but Hitch has me enthusiastic. And I thought the Hawkeye action was much more enjoyable than an uber team battle royale. Great final splash page.

  23. Got it on a whim because of a light week. I enjoyed it, including the art – was planning on trade waiting, but we’ll see.

  24. Probably a stupid question but is the the 616 universe? It feels like an alternate universe story with it not fitting into any other book now, assume of the characters looking and acting pretty different and the title calling back age of apocalypse

  25. Avatar photo tripleneck (@tripleneck) says:

Didn’t know this was a Hawkeye solo issue, but OK. Still don’t think Hawkeye is as badass as Marvel wants me to think he is.

Also, I laughed when Stark is still using tech of any kind with no explanation as to why Ultron wouldn’t be able to / have already co-opted it. We’ll just take it on faith that Stark science is immune, huh?

  26. There was more Ultron in Bendis’ Kang arc on the Avengers.

  27. This is pretty much Marvels’ version of Rot World.

  28. I actually quite enjoyed this issue. Even if this is somewhat similar to the Rotworld event, I can see myself enjoying this far more than the DC equivalent. I’ll stick with Age of Ultron for a bit. Or, at least, until it starts to run too long (if that ends up happening).

  29. Perfect! Can’t wait to read more… Marvel does post-apocalyptic like no other…
