Young Justice – S01E18 – Secrets

I’m finally all caught up on Young Justice. Last week’s episode, which intorduced the New Gods, was fantastic. The best part? Robin realizing that he didn’t want to grow up to become Batman.

This week, Zatanna makes another appearance as she and Artemis get into trouble during Halloween.

Here’s a taste:

I look forward to your thoughts, opinions, gripes, live-blogging, etc.

  1. Oh, Harm! A classic Young Justice villain from the comic… So I assume this episode must be written by Peter David! Exciting!

  2. I’ve missed Greta; I hope someone uses her (and Empress) in the newDCU.

Did everyone see the guy dressed as The Flaming C?

  3. Also, tonight was the finale of the Batman: The Brave and the Bold. It hurt my heart to see it go away.

  4. This felt like it aired out of place. Like it should have aired before FAILSAFE.

  5. I love how Meghan turned herself into Marvin the Martian.

  6. I was hoping secret will join the team. A little disappointed that shes only a cameo.

  7. Also, Im pretty sure Zatanna will join the team sooner or later. Hopefully sooner

  8. I know this is supposed to be about Young Justice, which is great. But how awesome was this last episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold. I mean they had a show about jumping the shark with Ambush Bug, played by Henry Winkler. Paul Dini outdid himself with this one. Will miss this show greatly.

    • The end of the episode was great. The after party with all the characters. The preview of Batgirl. Awesome stuff.

    • They had an ep about ‘jumping the shark’ where Ambush Bug was played by Henry Winkler??? That is a damn near brilliant idea! Seriously, f’n brilliant.

    • Maybe a ‘Smallville’ type of show is required for the elegant extinguishing of the light that was Brave and The Bold?

The show was hit or miss for me, but i have to stay that was one of the best episodes closures that I have seen from a tv series… Animated or not. I think this breaking of the 4th wall and meta topical discussion was attempted by many a cult show from The Prisoner to now. If nothing else, its own article discussion.

  9. This has got to be one of the best animated shows made recently. The storylines are great, and I love the steady inclusion of the Justice League. The art if fantastic, and most of the dialogue is “believable” (and, yes, this episode was written by Peter David). This episode is just another in a great line of shows.

  10. I wonder if I’m the only one who is hoping for a space-baseball episode.

  11. I loved the brief Abel and the House of Secrets blurb at the end!

  12. Love, love, love this show. With that stated. I think this episode missed the cues. It feels like an episode that wanted to walk the line of humour, drama, action and haunting. And it was just a beat off. I think it is one of the weaker episodes, though by no stretch was a poor episode. I am ecstatic that I have a show that is so good that its worse episode is still head and above others. This show and Ben 10 make me happy to still be engaged by cartoons.

  13. Honestly, this was one of my least favorite episodes. It felt hokey and hamfisted. Not to mention Artemis is kind of boring imo

  14. This episode was fine, but it felt like I should have seen it the week before Halloween. Also, it was kind of filler, with only one scene having much to do with the overarching story. But I do enjoy Captain Marvel.

Also, I find Artemis annoyingly attractive. I feel bad about that.
