Pilot Season Voting is upon us!

What is Pilot Season?  Each Year, Top Cow takes a spin at several first issues.  All are written, drawn, and published, and the public (YOU!) get to vote on which one will continue as a series.  Be sure to scroll down to find out how you can try these issues out for FREE on Graphic.ly and how you can vote and help choose the ongoing series!

This year, there are 5 contenders.  Let's go to the quick descriptions!

39 Minutes (written by WIlliam Harms, art by Jerry Lando) A group of ex-soldiers rob small towns.  Only one man can stop them, and he's in prison, and doesn't want to help, but the clock's ticking.

Asset (written by Filip Sablik, cover by Jenny Frison, art by David Marquez) Guy meets an incredible girl, thinks she's great, and it's too good to be true.  Of course, it is.  In reality, she's only using him as an asset for a terrorist attack.

Crosshair (written by Jeff Katz, art by Allan Jefferson, Jordi Terragona) – An ex-CIA assassin is out of the game, but they've pulled him back in!  Kill the president in 48 hours or figure out how to rewire himself to he doesn't have to.

Forever (written by Brad Inglesby, art by Bagus Hutomo, Thomas Nachlik) Ryan Stone's life was saved by a miracle cure at the age of 7, by a company called Longevity.  Now he works for them.  But there's something fishy about how it all works, and the truth isn't pretty.

7 Days From Hell (written by Bryan Edward Hill and Rob Levin, art by Phil Noto) A mercenary is saved from Hell when he dies, but in return, he's got to kill a very bad person at the behest of a demon every 7 days. Make the kill, stay out of Hell. Miss? Into the flames he goes.

Comments

  1. I already read it for free on CBR, but thanks for the option!

7 Days From Hell is a really great concept and it would be something I would read in issues if it won. It has a good main character, again a very interesting premise, and Phil Noto’s art (if he stays on of course) really made the pilot issue read a lot of fun.

I’m getting ahead of myself but I could even see 7 Days From Hell be a TV series with that kinda of concept. I think it’s THAT good!

  2. I voted my little heart out for Twilight Guardian a few years ago and I have no product. This makes me sad inside.

  3. Wow, this is awesome, I dropped the lot on trying one of these issues, now I wish I had waited.

  4. I voted for 7 Days from Hell, but 39 Minutes was a close second.

  5. It is very cool they are offering the issues this way, I’ve never been able to participate in the past

  6. I was a 39 Minutes man, myself. Two of these I would gladly pay to read each month; two of these I’m mad I read for free.

  7. Hey JumpingJupiter,

Good news! Twilight Guardian #1 will be out in January. Check out the latest Previews for details.

    Take care,

  8. @filipsablik: You know if you could make 7 Days From Hell win, there could be a nice bag with a dollar sign on it with your name on it.

  9. I’m noticing a theme.

  10. 7 Days from Hell by a long shot.

  11. Filip, you just made my week!!! Just for that, I pledge to buy some of this season’s Pilots and talk it up on the internet. Seriously, I’m wicked excited! 😀

  12. Hey JumpingJupiter,

Glad you are stoked! I understand the wait has been frustrating, but we’re trying to come through with these winning series the right way by making sure the quality is what fans expect and we get far enough ahead to where the series will come out timely.

TheNextChampion, feel free to use that bag of money to get other people to vote for it often. The fans are in control in Pilot Season. I get to sit back and fan the flames!

    Take care,

    Filip Sablik

  13. Love the concept on that crosshair cover.  Like a more badass james bond

  14. voted for 7 days from hell, but forever was a very close second. great stuff.

  15. 7 days from hell is the only one that i would love, love love love to read in issues

  16. I thought Forever was the best by quite a bit… none of the others stood out to me (though 7 days was the best of that lot).

  17. I checked the previews and oh my gid Twilight Guardian is totally there and the cover looks wicked cool!!!

  18. When does voting end?

  19. Double J, I sent you an email about Twilight Guardian, as I knew you’d be on that thing! Thanks for continuing to be TG’s biggest fan!

  20. i picked up cross hair and 7 days from hell i also picked one i dont see on this website. its called stellar and its by robert kirkman.is it an older pilot season comic or is it just not covered here? anyhow i really liked 7 days even though i felt it had a few issues.1 it felt like it went too too fast, like it was rushed.2 why is he so afraid of going back to hell? he didnt see any of it.now for things i liked,i like the characters guilt over his dead wife you can see that thats really gonna be his motivation in the story to try to get to heaven for her and not the fear of hell.and i really like demons being represented as attractive women(its hot).

  21. When’s Kirkman finishing his???

  22. i was only able to download 39 minutes and Asset…they seem pretty ok so far, but i want to check out the rest! The other 3 comics had download errors…Not the best fist impression of this platform.

  23. I picked all of them up but forever and I really enjoyed 39 minutes. I haven’t had an opportunity to read 7 days from hell yet.

  24. comicbookresources.com has them all for free, too. no problems.

  25. @Kickass – We’re wrapping up Hardcore right now. It’s going to be a beautiful issue with Brian Stelfreeze art and then we’ll kick off voting on the Kirkman/Silvestri Pilot Season.

    @NawidA – voting ends November 30th

    Take care,

  26. 7 Days from Hell is incredible. Please make more.

  27. I don’t get why 39 minutes is so far ahead.  I thought 7 Days from Hell was by far the best – the only good one really.

  28. I chose Forever and thought 7 Days From Hell was not so good. I have to ask though: Does anyone find the mercenary-that-will-kill-anyone-but-children archetype sympathetic? Not only is it incredibly cliche, I find it dumb. What is so redeemable about such a character? In this book in particular, he says he sees the people he kills as money. Oh, but he doesn’t kill kids. So I guess he isn’t so bad…do people really think like this??!!
