As a website dedicated to rubble and falling debris, we thought it might be fun to run this teaser trailer for a little art house flick entitled The Dark Knight Rises. It's coming out next year. You may have seen it ahead of a blockbuster film about wizardry this weekend, but Warner Bros. has finally made it available on their Facebook page, where you can watch it in HD.
Here's an admittedly low-red look from MTV's Splash Page. We'll keep an eye out for other HD versions as they become available.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this teaser is what we're not seeing. We have an extended conversation with Jim Gordon, confined to a hospital bed. What landed him in the hospital? More importantly, what is Christian Bale wearing while he's talking to him off camera? We get a very brief glimpse at Tom Hardy as Bane, but a very compelling image of Batman sans cape ready to go a few rounds with the big behemoth. And what of the crumbling skyscraper imagery? Is it purely metaphorical or are we really prepared for a Cataclysm?

Can anyone translate Gordon’s mumbling? Barely audible except for the EEEEVIL part.
So did Bane break Gordon rather than Bruce? Interesting.

Sounds like the movie will borrow a little bit from Dark Knight Returns a la Bats coming out of ‘retirement’. Awesome!

@stuclach I think Gordon may just have been injured during the arrival of Bane. I bet the breaking of the bat happens in the first half of the movie. I’m also inclined to believe the Ra’s may return to help Bruce recover in a lazarus pit. just thoughts.

I also think it may borrow from Knightfall and The Killing Joke thematically. if the Batman and his back aren’t around to be broken, then Bane might go after Gordon instead to draw him out. I’m trying to avoid plot spoilers, so IDK if it’s been confirmed or not, but I suspect that Bruce will travel the world again to retrain. The initial trailer reports suggested that there was a shot of him training from Begins, but while I do recall him doing pushups, I don’t recall him doing them with bars behind him.

Kind of reminds me of those YouTube fan trailers for movies that don’t exist yet. They get their friend’s dad to play Gordon and say some lines mixed with old footage.
Finally a trailer…. can’t wait for the next glimpse. I’m not going to even try speculating on plot or characters. I will say that I’m not ready for this to “end”. These movies have a lot of things right and I’d hate for someone to pick up the pieces and screw up the hard work thus far.

I’m thinking that this combines elements of Dark Knight Returns and The Cult (which is awesome, if you haven’t read it). It would be interesting if Bane breaks Gordon instead of Batman and it would be a nice catalyst to get Batman back in the game.
I also think the crumbling is metaphorical, like the city is falling apart due to he rising evil. This makes sense to me if they’re borrowing from The Cult because a similar thing happens in that. As much of a nerdgasm Cataclysm would be on screen, I don’t see it happening.

Can’t wait. Granted, this could have been the worst trailer in the history of cinema and I’d be there opening day.
For the most part, people really enjoyed the first two movies. Is anyone at all worried that the 3rd will be a let down? Nolan doesn’t seem to dissapoint, but curious what others think.
@sullivan85 I think it might easily be the weakest entry but still be the best film of 2012. Also, Nolan’s been pretty candid about his own reservations about doing a third movie (“How many good number 3s are there?”), so I’m inclined the Nolans approached this with proper care.
@homeboy2000 As for what Gordon says, for those who can’t understand the mumbling (hint: use headphones, they help alot), he says the following:

This is so exciting!
It certainly looks like Gordon got injuried really badly, echoing the statement for the millionth time but Bane might have something to do with it. It would also be interesting that Gordon may be taking to Bruce knowing he’s Batman. Kinda a weird direction to take if I’m honest….
I really hope people Bane seriously in this thing. I’m excited to see him but after Batman & Robin and this new look for him I’m not so sure…

It’s a teaser, it did that tease. The movies still a year out and they’ve only been filming for about a month, so it’s no surprise that a good chunk of the trailer was made up of text and images from the pervious film. The last image of batman and Bane was cool though.

Don’t get angry, kids, but in terms of a treaser trailer it’s pretty underwhelming. The construction and the editing of that specific 90 seconds on films was pretty shit.
Having said that, i will see the film of course
and just to jump on the random speculation based on nothing band-wagon, I think Gordan is actually getting a postate example from Bane in that shot. Evil rises
