Trailer: Waid, Robinson and Dell’Otto on SPIDER-MAN FAMILY BUSINESS OGN in 2014

Today Marvel announced a new original graphic novel by Mark Waid and James Robinson due out next Spring where they get, Elizabethtown law firms for consultation. The high concept behind Spider-Man: Family Business? Peter has a sister, her name is Theresa, and they’re in trouble. The story also involves a redefined Kingpin, as Waid puts it. It’s all fully painted by Gabriele Del’Otto.

  1. Dammit Marvel, another Spider-Man book?! Translated into each country’s primary language?! That’s genius! I look away for 5 minutes and the Internet drops this on me. I’m calling it, Marvel’s won this year. They’ve gone global…

Not only that but Marvel comics are already reprinted and translated in all of those countries. So the only information here is that it’s a worldwide release date, and I have to say I don’t see the point when they have to be 6 months behind on all the other books.

  2. I think I’ll have to check into this one right away. That’s a writing team I believe in.

Also, hadn’t heard about Avengers: Endless Wartime. That sounds like a winner too.

  3. oh i think image is still that far in front !!

  4. Not really a fan of Dell’otto work but those preview pages look good. Can’t wait to see people freak out about Peter having a sister the closer the release date comes.

I’m down with more OGNs. And those writers are people I trust. I’ll almost certainly be there.

  6. I look forward to reading the public library’s copy.

    Some time late next summer.

  7. April 2nd, 2014 is way too far away!

  8. So, by that time we will have Peter back in his body I guess.

And not a moment too soon for the new movie 😉

  9. That art is going to make me swoon, I just know it.

Definitely getting involved in this, it sounds great. Marvel have kicked off their OGNs in great style, it must be said.

  10. So if it is planned for April 2014 and Dell’Otto is doing the art, w should see it in…….2017?

  11. This sounds interesting, I wonder how they are going to make this whole sister thing work out. Either way, Mark Waid writing Spider-man is a must read for me.

  12. For me personally those anounced marvel ogn are the perfect way to stay in contact with the marvel characters. After years of reading many, many marvel comics (starting with alias and disassembled nearly every thing bendis has written and every major event since civil war including most of the tie ins) the marvel now initiative was kind of a jumping off point. It’s not primarily an event fatigue but more of a convoluted continuity where everything is connected fatigue (there was a time where exactly THAT was the thing that excited me about marvel) Right now i’m enjoying the books that live in their own little corner of the marvel universe the most ( after ruckas punisher finished, there are only daredevil and hawkeye left). So i’m really looking forward to those standalone not-connected- with-the- rest-of616-so-i-have-the-feeling-i-miss-something-from-another-book-books.

  13. Curious how the writing breakdown will be between Waid and Robinson. I assume they’re plotting it together, but I wonder if they’re both scripting. They have fairly distinct styles between them and I wonder how well it’ll work together.
