Comments

  1. I think the “Great Wallopin’ Websnappers” panel from ASM #672 should have been included here.

  2. I think my panel of the week might be the last panel from this week’s Abe Sapien issue, but I love that Flash panel too.

  3. Face it, Conor. There isn’t a single panel in all 52 issues of Scalped that isn’t worthy of this column. Maybe you should create a second one just for that book. Call it “Scalped – just look at it.”

I don’t care if it WOULD be merely every issue online. Somebody give Scalped a whole wing in the MOMA!

  4. I agree with the first X-Men panel (visually stunning!) But the 2nd not so much.
Anyways as much as I enjoyed Secret Avengers (Aja!) I hate when writers exaggerate a character. I’m pretty sure Sharon Carter is not the worlds greatest Secret Agent. That tile belong to Nick Fury or Black Widow. Bad Ellis!
Agree with you on The Flash. Story maybe 3 stars but the art is amped over 5 stars. Manupaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal

  5. I love the Daredevil Panel, can’t wait to read #5. The other ones are also great, Aja rocks.

  6. Wow, I didn’t even pick up on that while reading Daredevil, great stuff. You guys could’ve put the lightswitch sequence on here as well, Waid and Martin just kicked ass in this issue.

That was some of the best art I’ve ever seen in Scalped, I feel like it was a new colorist? Regardless, Guera right now doesn’t even resemble the Guera from the first 20 issues or so.

  7. Lol the real reason why Wolverine begged ice man to go with him was his CPA license

  8. There’s some next level shit going down right now in some comics. Hopefully it will continue. Was just looking back at We3 and wondering why everyone is so damn boring in monthlies. Flash and Daredevil give me hope.

  9. Also the tiny RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRs of Daredevil hearing the approaching motor boat was really well done.

  10. There were a lot of great moments in Spider-man, i like the spider-woman/ MJ /Thing moment.

  11. So many panels from Wolverine and the X-Men could have been picked

  12. really no nod for the “bamf!, Bamf!. Bamf!, Whiskey!” panel in wolvie and the x-men

  13. There are too many panels and pages to love in Secret Avengers #18.

If we could do an entire book for this article I would nominate that comic.

  14. I can only assume that none of the ifaboys are reading Green Wake from Image. The art in this week’s book is absolutely stunning.

  15. I thought Aquaman might have got a look in. The Trench were looking amazing in this issue.

Glad to see to All Star Western in here; although it looked like a lot of time spent on the amaze-o-panels resulted in a few hurried pages elsewhere.

  16. the art on justice league dark is perfect for the tone of the book. great panels over all. thanks

  17. What a great week. Best week ever. I bought all these. 7 days to read. YAY!

  18. Can Francis Manapul just draw ALL the comics please?

  19. It feels like Manapul and Buccellato are having loads of fun on Flash. Not saying they aren’t giving 100% for the book; but it feels like they are having loads of fun while doing their jobs.

We need more of that in comics.

  20. This week was awesome for great moments and art. Manapul’s Flash is quickly becoming one of my favorites, despite the pain in my gut stemming from my desire for Wally. Repress, repress, repress. Aquaman and ASM had some wonderful moments, too.

  21. How amazing was that Flash panel? Flash was the first book I read this week and that panel being just second page in, I just stopped and the first thought I had was…THIS is a Panel of the Week..then wondered what you’d do about the page separation line.

  22. I honestly don’t get why everyone is geeking out over Mikel Janin’s art. Yea, there are some nice instances of his work, but for the most part, everyone seems stiffly posed, as if he used action figures as reference, and there’s no sense of flow between panels. And his women…I know there are always complaints of comic book women looking like pornstars and supermodels and such, but in JLD, jesus christ, most of the women look like blow up dolls or 3D models from porn games.

Oh, and props to Deadman for his…unorthodox tactics.

  23. Between Manapul and Reis, a great week for great artists.

  24. Glad to see JLD included — there was some strong art in that issue. i liked the post-battle splash from All-Star Western, but would have gone with Hex’s pre-fight welcome splash myself . . .

Can’t wait to catch up on the last three issues of Daredevil . . .

  25. Today I read Daredevil, Secret Avengers, Wonder Woman, and Flash. All four of them were artistic masterpieces. We are in a new age of beautiful design and artwork as a part of the story as a rule instead of an exception, it seems.

  26. I love the full page of Jonah Hex standing on the porch with his shotgun before the killing starts.

  27. Am real glad to see Conor give some love to that FLASH panel, it really made me sit back in awe as well. Seeing that one in specific (in a whole issue of wonderful art) reminded me of Flash’s awesome power; he’s a g-d damned one man army corps. In a split second he could neutralize *hundreds* of enemies. We usually see him go up against one bad guy – but here in issue #2, we get a hint of how effective he could be against any size threat.
