SDCC 2012: VIDEO: Get Run Over By the Batmobile in DC Entertainment’s ‘INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US’ Game

Today Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment released a new gameplay trailer for its upcoming brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us. In it, newly announced characters like Nightwing and Cyborg show off their unique weapon systems and, okay, this next one deserves a paragraph break:

Batman summons the Batmobile to run over Harley Quinn.

Oh, and Wonder Woman? I think she’s about to strike a frozen Batman in the jaw, with Superman’s Kryptonian space pod.

Immersed as they are in the Mortal Kombat fighting engine, the Justice League and their rogues boast some pretty intense special moves. Much of the combat involves signature weapons like Batman’s grappler gun, Wonder Woman’s lasso, Nightwing’s Eskrima sticks and Cyborg’s arm cannons. As you saw above, there’s a lot of interaction with the environments, allowing heavy hitters like Diana and Superman to pick up cars for use as melee weapons. For characters who can’t quite bench press a taxi, such items are still useful as stationary objects. If you’re the Flash, you may be tempted to slam your opponent’s face into the hood of a car, once, twice, or thirty seven times in the space of a second.

Let’s watch.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is an all-new game in development by award-winning NetherRealm Studios, creators of the definitive fighting game franchise Mortal Kombat. Comments

  1. This game is going to be Fun as Heck to play, really looking forward to getting my hands on it.

  2. Grundy is going to be incredibly fun to play as

  3. You had me at “slam your opponent’s face into the hood of a car, once, twice, or thirty seven times in the space of a second.”

  4. This looks RIDONKULOUS! In all the best ways. Flash slamming Supes’ head into the cab at superspeed was definitely the highlight for me, but it looks like they really went to great lengths to give everyone an appropriate power/combo set. Looks like fun.

Was anyone else thinking, “Guys … stop … take a moment … wait … think for a sec … STOP FIGHTING GUYS!!”?

It was like watching two good friends get into drunken fisticuffs.

  5. I only played the demo but the most recent Mortal Kombat seemed pretty good. So this should be fun to play but it looks way too dark for my taste. NetherRealm isn’t the best fit for a DC Comics fighter. I love how Marvel vs. Capcom 3 captures the colorful tone of superhero comics.

  6. I love that it’s pretty much just one-sided combat, so instead of give and take, we just see character 1 mercilessly beating to death character 2.
