SDCC 13: Steve McNiven to Join UNCANNY AVENGERS

The Rick Remender written series Uncanny Avengers, has had no shortage of superstar, incredible artists, and come November, you can add Steve McNiven’s name to the mix. In the past couple of years, we’ve seen McNiven work with Mark Millar on Nemesis, and an issue of AvX: Vs., which he also wrote. He’ll be back in the penciler saddle with Remender, who has always known how to surround himself with the best artists in comics.

Here’s how Marvel puts it:

Superstar artist Steve McNiven comes aboard Uncanny Avengers as the “Ragnarok Now!” saga reaches explosive new heights! With the Apocalypse Twins nearing ever-closer towards complete global genocide, the Uncanny Avengers must rally like never before! But as death toll rises with each fallen Avenger, how many how many sacrifices must be made for mankind’s preservation? Relationships are shattered, scores are settled, and nightmares come alive as the Avengers Unity squad faces its darkest hour yet. It all starts here…but is it also where ends?  Strap in for the most exhilarating chapter of Rick Remender’s Uncanny Avengers epic yet—brought to the epic scale that only Steve McNiven can provide—as Thor grapples with the Apocalypse Twins and the Wasp confronts the Sentry!

So the Sentry is involved still, hunh? I suppose you could still read it if you want.

We kid. This has been an excellent series, and we see no reason to expect that to change.

Comments

  1. I can’t wait to see those panels of Sentry and Steve Rogers looking exactly alike!

  2. Has Wolverine finally had enough of Wanda’s shit?

    And is that Rogue’s glove?

McNiven’s kinda hit or miss with me, but it’s true that Remender has scored himself quite a stable of pencillers. Looking forward to this being a hit instead of a miss.

  3. An Unstable, Genocidal Maniac is going to die? Hallelujah! Let’s hope it sticks this time.

  4. Sweet.

  5. Just when you thought Uncanny Avengers would come out on schedule! Enter McNiven!

Still looking forward to it though. McNiven’s fantastic, but if they ditched Cassaday so that they could ship monthly, then this is kind of a regression.

  6. This would be a great reason for me to continue to purchase this series.

I just don’t think I can continue to get this many X or A titles.

Although I really do tend to enjoy Remender’s work, and would love to have his entire run.

    Decisions, decisions…

  7. Still will be getting this but I do hope we don’t lose track on scheduling again & also hope we get the good McNiven not the nemesis one!

  8. ah, this is a shame for me, McNiven is awesome but I can’t get into this book. I’d hoped to see McNiven do X-Men!
