New Creative Team on Generation Hope

Today, Marvel released the following teaser for Generation Hope #13, announcing the new creative team of writer James Asmus and artist Ibraim Roberson, who may have noticed on Flashpoint: Frankenstein earlier this summer.  This news confirms that series creator and original writer Kieron Gillen has left the title.

The teaser features Sebastian Shaw surrounded by characters in silhouette.  Does this mean Shaw now leads Generation Hope? Who are the missing characters? What did you think of Gillen’s run?

  1. I liked what Gillen was doing with this book, but this news makes me feel like the book has received a demotion in the X-universe in terms of relevance to the central storyline. I’ll pick this up in trade if reports are good, but I’ll be dropping it from my monthly pull list. #goodjumpingoffpoint

Also, I am not a fan of the fonts going on in that promo image, I hope those are not sticking around.

  2. I hope this improves this book from here on out. It needed it big time.

  3. I dropped after the fifth issue. For some reason, I wasn’t really into it because I felt the characters other than lacked depth and the story didn’t feel like it had any relevance. I think I always ask if it’s changed, but now that it looks like it actually will, maybe I’ll check it out again

  4. What is it with Shirtless Shaw all the time?

The character is an upper crust aristocrat.
He would walk around impeccably dressed and appointed, not like a WWE character.

  5. Where has Sebastian Shaw been these days? Please tell me this is not a Schism spoiler.

  6. I dunno, I mean ill check out an issue or two to see if I like it, but I was enjoying Gillen’s run. the shadowy people are everyone but Idie

  7. Pity that Gillen is leaving. For a long time, Gillen’s Generation Hope and PAD’s X-Factor were the best books on the stands. I enjoyed the double dose of Gillen X-stories lately, but I figured it wouldn’t last.

I am super happy that Roberson is joining up as the regular artist, since not only was his work on Frankenstein great, but he did a done-in-one issue of Uncanny X-Men recently that was nearly pitch perfect.

  8. This is a shame I loved gillen’s run it was the first time in a while that the jr X team felt important There was nice synergy having the main X writer write both books

  9. I hope we get some feeling of a conclusion at the end of Gillen’s run. Really been enjoying it.

Plus, I wonder if this ending will concern the death/defection of Idie, since she seems to be the only member of the team who’s silhouette is missing. I see Kenji in the foreground, Teon squatting, Hope with a gun, Gabriel behind Shaw, and Laurie flying. She has been acting oddly, and has the potential to really lose it.

  10. Generation Hope has at least one POTW from me, and maybe more (POTW and pull stats = Future site functionality! Get on that!). I really enjoyed the book.

I wish these kids hadn’t been so separate for so long and had mixed in with the other X-brats more. Though that’s a minor complaint.

I hope this means another big gig for Gillen. If you ever read RPS back in the day you know he is a badass.
