Comments

  1. 15 books for me this week! And I’m looking forward to all of them! Great week. Double-sized JLI:GL, Brightest Day, and Action Comics top the list for me; plus any week with both Detective Comics, American Vampire, and Morning Glories can’t not be good.

    BQ: Pie.

  2. Red Velvet all the way.  I’m excited for Flash and JSA

  3. Action Comics #900!!!

BQ: Vanilla cake with chocolate icing, Yo!

  4. Huge week for me. 8 in total (with one of those being Thunderbolts from last week).

  5. Looking forward to Brightest Day, Generation Lost, Echoes, and Velocity wrapping up, as well as the Luthor arc in Action Comics.  I can finally read the end of Y the Last Man and get to the 2nd volume of the X-Men Omnibus.  This is a really awesome, and expensive, week, on paper at least.  But two Secret Avengers issues?!?  That’s just dumb.  I don’t like that book enough to read it twice in one week.

BQ: Dominican cake is pretty slammin’.

  6. Detective Comics!  Yes!

  7. Another great week for me. I’m getting suspicious. Next week is gonna suck.

BQ: Chocolate cake with vanilla frosting.

  8. BQ: vanilla/chocolate ice cream cake with crunchies in the middle.

  9. Budget Buster week. Just about everything i read (save for Uncanny X Force) is coming out this week. Time to make tough decisions. why is everything coming out this week? Combined with DC’s extra special bonus issues that cost more, Looks like i’ll have to drop a few things that i was actually enjoying cause they just wont’ fit in the budget. =(

  10. I pulled one book last week. This week I have nine! I haven’t pulled this many books in over a year.

  11. My list says I am pulling 22 books. I disagree with my list. There will be an elimination round. No hard feelings, list.

Releasing two issues of Secret Avengers simultaneously rankles a bit. That may be cut #1.

  12. Questions to answer this week:

Can the awesome keep a-goin’ in the #2’s (FF, Xombi, & Venom)?

Has Superman been in Action Comics in the last two years?
Will the green-bearded Brit keep up the walking action in #900?

BQ: Keeping it classic w/ the chocolate cake.  (It’s my birthday today & I got one waiting at home.)

  13. Eight, and I am looking forward to all of them! Love when this happens. The big competition will be Snyder vs. Snyder (Detective vs. Am Vamp). Last month, Snyder won with Am Vamp, but it was close.
    BQ: No cake until September!

  14. My first week of comics that I’ll be paying for with a decent paycheck in a little close to a year! CELEBRATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I’m going to still be making some eliminations to my monthly pull list in order to just get the trades for those respective series. Like FF, which is going to be tough not to get. I really liked the first issue, but there’s nothing really driving me to read it on a monthly basis as opposed to trade waiting it.

I’m highly looking forward to the end of Justice League: Generation Lost, as that was seriously one of the funnest DC series that I have read in awhile. Judd Winick has a good balance of serious drama and fun in his writing. Also going to give Mighty Thor #1 a shot. I wasn’t too jazzed with the first issue of Fraction’s Thor run, but now that his story is picking up a bit, I think now is as good a time as any to jump in.

Avengers #12.1 looks quite sick. I love that their using the villains from Loeb’s Hulk run in that issue, since I thought that they played off each other quite well. I’ve been trade waiting the Lex Luthor story in Action Comics, but I’m going to probably pick up #900 for the hell of it. You know…ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION!!!!!

Oh yeah, and Secret Avengers #12.1. As of now, the series is the worst Avengers book on the stands, so I’m sure Nick Spencer is going to quickly turn that around.

BQ: Fudgie The Whale. All other answers are incorrect.

  15. Venom, Powerman and Iron Fist #4

    BQ: COOKIEPUSS!

    @PozrDu  Happy B-Day!

  16. A whopping great week with too much good stuff to list.

BQ: Cheese…but if you insist on me choosing cake-cake I’d go with a chocolate layer cake with vanilla buttercream.

  17. BQ: Are you guys playin’ Portal 2 right now or is this legitimate?  Until I’ve got a few more weeks in between me and that game, I’m callin’ conspiracy on anything cake related.

  18. @diebenny  No, we just like cake.

  19. @spaceghost15:  Thanks spaceghost15!

  20. The new Jonah Hex and Fantastic Four trades. Also, despite being a filthy trade-waiter, I’ll be picking up the historic Action Comics #900.

BQ: Hot chocolate fudge cake. With ice cream on the side.

  21. I’m looking forward to the last Thunderstrike issue. Let’s end on a high note.

Bq: sticky date cake with coconut icing (lumberjack cake)

  22. Aside from the money implications, i’m looking forward to lots of stuff. Amazing Spiderman, FF, Gen Lost and Brightest Day..oh yeah Action!. So much stuff, hope i have time to read it.

BQ: every kind of Cake…is the best kind of cake. I do loove me some Carrot Cake though. Our wedding cake (red velvet+buttercream) was awesome. Can’t wait for the free topper they give us on our anniversary! (the shop gives you a freebie instead of having you freeze it for a year).

  23. Let me just finish the paperwork… There. House refinanced. Now I can afford the ridiculous number of comics coming this week.

Of course I am kidding. I don’t have any equity in my house.

  24. A huge but wonderful week of comics.  So much to look forward to: new Venom, Action #900, American Vampire, Scalped, Brightest Day finale, and much more.  Can’t wait till Wednesday.

BQ: I myself am a yellow cake with chocolate frosting fan, but when it comes down to it, I pretty much enjoy all forms of cake.

  25. I’m oddly exciting for the end of brightest day and generation lost…. because i’m a nerd

BQ: my favourite cake is alcohol

  26. Good bye Generation Lost. I’ll miss you 🙁
    BQ : tres leches.

  27. 20 books this week and i might need a second job but i couldnt be happier. two snyder books ,the end to brightest day with you know who.cant wait

  28. I am so excited for FF#2 I can hardy contain it! I have 6 other books, but I’m so into finding out how Doom is going to factor in to the Future Foundation that I can barely remember what they are.

BQ: There’s a bakery near me that makes a devils food cupcake with peanut butter frosting that is probably what they serve when you get into Heaven on day one.

  29. looking forward to the wrap ups of JLGen Lost and Brightest Day–loved the storylines.

Strawberry rhubabrb pie–oops I mean Angel food cake!

  30. ……Wow. I think my pull list broke my brain, and I suspect the noise I keep hearing is my wallet weeping underneath the bed. But yay comics!

BQ: I’m an equal opportunity dessert lover, all kinds of cake are welcome.

  31. I’m looking forward to the Bulletproof Coffin TPB since I missed out on the issues.

BQ: I love a good Carvel cake, even Cookie Puss, but if I can’t have that, nothing beats an Entenmann’s Chocolate Fudge Cake.

  32. hehe he said cookie puss

  33. Yeah , my pull list is at 20 right now.  Going to save some for next week.

  34. Damn, big week. 14 for me. Goodbye money! But some great stuff I just HAVE to buy. Last week was kind of lackluster for me, so I guess my comic karma is making up for it.

BQ: Cheesecake. It’s like kryptonite for my waistline.

  35. Thanks to @Jimski’s “Start Anywhere” article, I am excited to finally hop onto American Vampire!

BQ: Angel food cake with strawberry frosting.

  36. 7 of 8 Marvel. The one indy book was Warlord of Mars.

  37. Definitely Velocity, probably Batman Inc, maybe Xombi (if I can find the first issue) and I will flip through Action to decide if I want to start getting it when Kenneth Rocafort comes on as artist next issue.

BQ: My former roommate used to make this lemon poppy seed bundt cake that was just unbelievable. Sure to put you right into a diabetic coma, but SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!
