New Comics for 03/18/09 Always Goes With Billy Zabka

Get to pulling this Wednesday’s books, and then let us know what you’re looking forward to most, what you’re dropping, what others should be buying and anything you’re thinking. Be heard, because we need you, iFanbase!

What are the iFanboys buying? Check it out here: Conor, Ron, Josh, and Gordon the Intern. And what about the rest of the staff? What are they buying? Dave, Jim, Paul, Mike, and Sonia.

The last two weeks I’ve thought that I’ve had a light week, but both times they turned out to be pretty hefty, with 13 books each week. This week it looks like it will actually be a light week. Not a lot going on from either Marvel or DC; not a lot to get super excited about. The Amazing Spider-Man? Yes. Supergirl? Yes. Dark Avengers? Yes. Spider-Man: Noir? Yes. Wolverine? Yes. Beyond those books, though…

This week I have the Pick of the Week!

Bonus Question: Who is your favorite movie jerk?

Comments

  1. Prolly most intrigued by Groom Lake (Templesmith + Aliens)…

    BQ: Daniel Plainview

  2. This is not a week i would want your job sir, looks like there’s a lot of cool stuff coming out.

BQ: I would have to say Sack from Wedding Crashers. Cooper was just perfect in that role, so much so that one of my friends hates him in any role he’s regardless because of how he treated rachel mcadams in that movie

  3. Dark Avengers, Wolverine, ASM, Bad Dog, and maybe Azrael.

BQ: Steve Martin… is their any other choice?

  4. Azrael, Dark Avengers, and Wolverine for me… I’m gonna get my ass kicked soon

BQ: Tom "Iceman" Kazanski, gotta love him

  5. I’m only pulling 4 comics for this week. Which is nice, because there’s comics in my file that I still have to get.

BQ: I choose the guy in Dark Knight who wanted to blow up the other Ferry. And any other guy that’s like that guy. There’s always a guy like that in the hostage situation. The dude who only cares about his safety so he’s totally for killing other people to keep himself alive. I wish I had other examples. I think there was a guy like that in Die Har too. It might’ve been the coke fiend.

  6. @BenBugenig yeah the coked up guy with the beard. he was totally a jerk

  7. Azrael, Dark Avengers, Old Man Logan, ASM, Spider-Man Noir and Invincible.  Getting Azrael blind, forgive my ignorance.

BQ: Fred O’Bannion Dazed and Confused.

  8. Most excited about Soulfire #8! This was Mike Turner’s baby, but due to his health, it’s been delayed. it’s been almost 5 years since #7 hit and I can’t wait to get my fix! So glad the title lives on. MT~R.I.P.

  9. Looks like it will just be Amazing Spider-Man and Supergirl for me this week. I’m dropping Uncanny X-Men.

    BQ: Clarence Boddicker from "Robocop"

  10. X-Men Legacy, Uncanny, Deadpool, ASM

BQ: Bradley Whitford from Billy Maddison. ERRRIC!??!?

  11. Marvel, Marvel and more Marvel!

BQ: Without a doubt the best movie jerk ever: Walter Peck from Ghostbusters!!!

  12. Yay! This week looks promising. Old Man Logan is possibly my favorite thing out right now.

BQ: Harry Ellis in Die Hard, for sure. "Hey babe, I negotiate million dollar deals for breakfast. I think I can handle this Eurotrash." Typical hotshot. Haha, I’m glad he dies though. Either that or Vernon from the Breakfast Club, he’s just misunderstood.

  13. Invincible #60 and a new Wolverine!!  Sweet stuff.  Up in the air about G.I.Joe Cobra.  Have to look through the #0 issue to remind myself if it looked interesting or not.

BQ:  Never thought about it.  Probably Stiffler in the first American Pie.

  14. Light week all the way round..excited about Supergirl though

BQ: The principal from "Ferris Bueller’s Day Off"

  15. Hotwire! Mysterius! Pluto!! Guess I’m kinda looking forward to Spidey and Wolvie too.  KINDA.

BQ: Godzilla. That guys a dick.

  16. Avatar photo Paul Montgomery (@fuzzytypewriter) says:

    Where are all the booooks?!

BQ – Gotta go with Ruo21.  Steve Martin is THE Jerk.  Also, my hero.

  17. 3 tiny books this week. I’ll probably only get Wolverine.

BQ: Mmh, that’s a hard one. I couldn’t tell, but righ now, I’m thinking Patrick Swayze’s character in Donnie Darko, gosh, what. a. dick.

Now that we’re talking movies, if any of you want to check out a little blog I (re)started on tumblr, that’d be cool.

    swampandreviews.tumblr.com

  18. A new Powers trade!!  Its only been available for pre-order from Amazon for over a year, but at least its here right?

BQ:  Farva from Super Troopers, "I don’t want a large farva. I want a goddamn litre o’ cola!"

  19. Azrael, Dark Avengers, and Wolverine and ultimatum

    Lt harris from police academy

  20. Strangely, Outsiders is my most anticipated book.

BQ: Steve Martin  all the way.

  21. Light week for me – ASM and Invincible look like about it.  Maybe I’ll pick up the Captain Britain trade too.

BQ.  Steve Martin will always be "the Jerk" in my mind, but all the Tannens in the Back to the Future trilogy are serious jerks.

  22. ASM HAS GOT ME JAZZED B.Q SHOOTER

  23. I think I have only three books this week. I should not complain. Its good to save money.

BQ: Ajax from the Warriors. Major jerk.

  24. I dont even know who Zabka is….

    Azreal Death’s Dark Knight #1

    Deadpool Annual: Games of Death

Punisher #3 (last chance with this series for me)

Wolverine #71 (Time for the annual Wolverine issue to come out. I know it hasnt been that long for this to be released….but it sure feels like it)

BQ: Thomas F. Wilson ‘Think McFly! Think!’

  25. Dark Avengers, Spider-man Noir, Uncanny X-Men, and Ultimatum.

    BQ: Cipher

  26. Azrael look interesting plus old man logan and few other books.

    Kreese from the Karate Kid.

  27. Just Dark Avengers.

    BQ:  Lumbergh!

  28. I got my iFanboy members pack in the mail today also. Thanks guys, can’t wait to read Brit #3 hehe.

  29. Nothing but I may pick up Invincible #60 if I pass by the comic book store.

BQ: Alfred Borden from The Prestige

  30. Amazing Spider-Man #588

Finally!  I have been waiting so long for this, I’m not even bothered about the $3.99 price tag.

    Supergirl #39

    Yes, Superwoman is MY woman…

Azrael Deaths Dark Knight #1 (OF 3)

Nothing like a good old tie in!  Well it’s not like we got anything about the main event itself this week.

    Punisher #3

Not too exciting already. About to be on the chopping block with MAX after these arcs.

    Amazing Spider-Man Extra #3

Yes, two Spiderman books this week!

    Uncanny X-Men #507

    Hey, what the hell?

Hmmmm…  The biggest jerk in the movie business?  well SHE-TAAR is a real bitch. What? You never watched Blood Diner in the 1980s?

  31. Light week! With a new Uncanny! The book being written just for me!

    BQ

Jack Black in High Fidelity obvz.

  32. 10 pulls for me.  Funny how that’s a "quiet" week.

As for my Jerk… uh, The Jerk.  Steve Martin, baby!

  33. …any movie that starts with Steve Martin narrating: "I was born a poor black child."

    Automatic win!

  34. Principal Rooney

  35. Looking forward to Ultimatum. More because I want to get to the new status quo of the Ultimate universe already!

  36. What a week!  Wolverine, ASM, Dark Avengers, Supegirl, AND pretty new Ben Templesmith art?  Seriously, is it Wednesday yet?

BQ:  Who doesn’t go with RDJ as Tony Stark?

  37. BQ: Steve Mart…no, Thomas F. Wilson takes the prize!

  38. I have a crazy light week.  Only four books.  I might pick up a couple of trades…or I might not because I’m sure I’ll get slammed at some other point this month.  I’m excited for the new End League.  Love Canete’s art!

B.Q. Walter from The Big Lebowski

  39. Outsiders

    Supergirl

    Invincible

    ASM

    Dark Avengers

    Punisher

    Spider-Man Noir

    Ultimate X-Men

    Ultimatum

    Wolverine

    X-Factor

    X-Men Legacy

BQ: Steve Martin, of course – THE original jerk.

  40. BQ That dick from karate kid

  41. @gwiz: Billy Zabka!

  42. Dark Avengers, Soulfire , X men Light week

BQ: Stiffler from American Pie. Went to highschool with his doppleganger.

  43. For those that haven’t seen it, Sweep the Leg:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFlQNtL8F9s

  44. Nice and light this week only 6 books!

Dark Avengers, Invincible, Ultimate X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Wolverine, and X-Men Legacy.

BQ: John Tuturro as Agent Simmons in Transformers.

  45. @tork: I wish I had your kind of pull list (1 book!)

Nothing can beat the awesomeness of Biff Tannen!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7wVEAgVPi8&feature=related

  46. Only one thing I’m excited about;Invincible, and a couple other things that I can’t decide weather or not to stick with due to budgetary reasons like Angel: After the Fall, Dark Avengers & Supergirl.

BQ: George C. Scott as General Buck Turgidson in Dr. Strangelove

  47. Amazing Spider-Man *and* Amazing Spider-Man Extra in the same week? That seems counterintuitive. I thought the Extras existed to fill the gaps between ASM issues. Will I buy this? Oh, who are we kidding?

BQ: Paul Gleason in anything. When looking for Die Hard jerks, don’t forget Chief Dwayne Robinson.

  48. ASM and Bad Dog, might pick up Azrael and Groom Lake depending on how I’m feeling when I’m at the shop.  I can really tell it’s a light week for me when my wife might be getting more books than me!

    BQ: Riddick.  Jerk but awesome.

  49. Wow only 10 books for me this week. Nice.

Does anyone think the Azrael story will be worth it?

B.Q. O’doyle Rules! (it’s one of the few I could think of off the top o’ my dome)

  50. Wow, hardly anything to be excited about this week besides Wolverine. Trade week!

BQ —  Not really a movie, but I’d have to say Baltar from BSG. His cowardly, selfish, snake-like nature make you want to punch him, but at the same time his bug-eyed facial reactions make you laugh out loud. But, if I HAVE to pick a movie … the cop in Boyz In The Hood – "Ah you scared now … I like that … it’s why I took this job, I hate little mothafuckas like you, little *******, you aint shit, how you feel now?"

  51. Randal from Clerks.

  52. I’m most looking forward to checking in on Invincible for the all-Image crossover and checking out Air for just $1. Also getting Milligan’s Hellblazer and Pugh’s Hotwire along with a generous dollop of X-Crap in the form of X-Force and Uncanny X-Men.

BQ: Probably Tony Moss from Showgirls, my favorite movie. "You got something wrong with your nipples? They’re not stickin’ up, stick em up. Play with em a little bit. Pinch em a little. You want me to do it for you? I’ll do it." Such a gentleman.

  53. Azreal, baby, brnging it back to the ninties.

BQ: who was that dick out of Valkyire with the funny mo’…. what an arsehole

  54. Invincible 60 looks mighty fun. Sucks for the "traders".

Is the 7th trade out? my friend is getting…anxious.

BQ:Gary Cole from Office Space. What a douchebag.

  55. I meant the 11th trade.

  56. Most excited for Mysterius the Unfathomable…. and ASM

So many great movie jerks already listed, how about James Gandolfini in The Last Castle….

  57. How does Marvel allow all 5 X-Men books to be released the same week?  Spread those suckers out.

But of course, I’ll still buy them.

BQ: All the classic movie jerks are taken so I’m going TV…..President Logan from Season 5 of 24.

  58. Alright, great week!  New End League, although wasn’t it supposed to be more regular with the new guy?  Feels like forever.

And the New Ms. Marvel trade, I love that book.

BQ: The French from the Holy Grail?  Sure, I’ll go with that.

  59. @roadcrew1: The guy who played President Logan lives in my neighborhood. Used to see him around all the time when I worked during daylight.

  60. The only book I’m getting this week is Supergirl. I’ll probably pick up a trade as well.

BQ: I have a couple. Mr. Pink from Reservoir Dogs, The Jesus from The Big Lebowski, Harry Lime from The Third Man and of course Steve Martin from The Jerk.

  61. I’m a DC girl, so this week is kinda light.  Supergirl & Azrael are what I’m looking forward to the most.  Black Lightening Yr. One, Outsiders, and I’m still giving Vigilante a try.

    BQ: Steve Martin…of course!!

  62. Most excited for Dark Avengers (takes a drink), followed by Uncanny X-Men. And since this is only a 20 week (assuming I did the math right), I’ll probably grab yet ANOTHER Y The Last Man trade. 🙂

BQ: Fuck it; the Comedian may be new favorite movie jerk. 🙂

  63. BQ:  I’m with Spoons.  Randal from Clerks.  He’s taking it back. I also think Phil Connors from Groundhog Day has to be in the mix.

  64. Groom Lake, for sure, Star Trek Countdown, and as much as I really don’t like it, Ultimatum. I’ve got a bunch of other stuff on the pull list, but Those are the ones I am looking forward to.

BQ – O’Doyle from Billy Madison. O’DOYLE RULES
