Bonus Question: When the documentary of your life is made, what will be the music that plays over the opening credits?

Comments

  1. Walking dead #69

    Ultimate comics enemy #1

    Alias Ultimate collection 2

    House Of M HC

BQ: Ludacris-Move Bitch, I think it somes up most of my life

  2. Very busy week for me. Most excited that Kick-Ass will finally be over. If the preview is any indication, this will be yet another fucked up issue. Good stuff.

BQ: Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley. My life will be one gigantic Rick Roll to the whole world.

  3. Atom And Hawkman (Blackest Night) #46 Avengers Initiative #32 Batman And Robin #7 Blackest Night Jsa #2 (OF 3) Captain America Reborn #6 (OF 6) Chew #8 Daredevil #504 Detective Comics #861 Gi Joe Cobra Ii #1 Gotham City Sirens #8 Green Lantern #50 Guardians Of Galaxy #22 Irredeemable #10 Justice League Cry For Justice #6 (OF 7) Justice League Of America #41 Justice Society Of America #35 Kick Ass #8 New Avengers #61 Secret Warriors #12 Superman #696 Superman Secret Origin #4 (OF 6) Terry Moores Echo #19 Thor #606 Ultimate Comics Enemy #1 (OF 4) X-Factor #201 X-Force #23 X-Men Legacy #232

BQ – Fortunate Son – CCR

  4. damn. it’s going to be very hard to stick to 10 books this week… stupid new year’s resolution.

    BQ: "Alison" by Elvis Costello

  5. 5 or 6 comics this week so i should have fun. 😛

BQ: loser by Beck. My movie sumed up by the end of the open credits. 😉

  6. Looks like a big list for me (6 or 7 books!). Hey, isn’t WORLD’S FINEST #4 supposed to be out this week? It’s listed on DC’s site. Anyone hear anything about it?

BQ: ‘That’s the Story of My Life’ by the Velvet Underground. Or ‘Exit Music (For a Film)’ by Radiohead. Because I am very literal.

  7. 16 books, most of which seem to be $4! Whew! At this time, I am buying the 9 top pulled books on iFanboy (Kickass broke my streak).

BQ: The Back to the Future theme!

  8. Wow. Big week for me too. Twelve books! I am most excited for Batman and Robin, Eaglesham back on Fantastic Four, and Green Lantern #50. Oh, and we’ll finally see how Cap Reborn finishes 😉

BQ: "Fuckin’ Up" by Neil Young

  9. Overwhelming. I will never dig my way out of this week.

Chew? Resurrection? Walking Dead? Bat-everything? And how did I get up to fifteen Marvel books in a week?

Next week needs to be a dry spell.

BQ: Today, I’m thinking "The Shadow Government" by They Might Be Giants.

  10. wow a $75 week for me.  Maybe I should cut back 🙂

    BQ: “C” Is for Cookie

  11. Wow. Double fail. I found WORLD’S FINEST. Nevermind. Also, I read the BQ as ‘closing credits.’

  12. 17 books = monster week for me! Even though X-Factor is coming out this week (which is usually my POTW), it’s sure going to be tough to pick a winnr this week!

I mean, Cameron F’n Stewart on Batman & Robin #7? I can’t remember being as excited as I was to hear an artist announcement when they announced him. Additionally, Jock doing interiors for Batwoman also massively piques my interest.

Call me a glutton for punishment, but I’m going to give Justice League of America #41 a shot. If this isn’t good, I dont know what hope the JLA has while under Robinson. Also getting Gotham City Sirens #8, as that’s been pretty fun so far. Also Superman Secret Origin #4, which I’m enjoying much more than I thought I would (but not really, since Johns is writing it), and New Avengers #61, as I’m curious to see what transpires there.

And Kick-Ass #8! It would have been real funny if the movie came out before this series finished…

BQ: Without a doubt, "I Think I’m Wonderful" by The Damned

  13. Hank Williams Jr. "Man of Steel".

     Matthew

  14. Amazing Spider-Man

Captain America: Reborn (Finally going to read Wield the Shield, I’ve been saving it.  I set my own schedule, thanks anyway Marvel.)

    Fantastic Four

    Green Lantern

    New Avengers

Batman books and the new Ultimate books couldn’t make the cut this week and I’m more okay with it than I thought I’d be.

BQ – "Cowboy in the Jungle" Jimmy Buffett.  Totally the story of my life.

  15. BQ: Monster by Lady Gaga

  16. Lots of goddness this week: most looking forward to Northlanders and the House of Mystery #3 trade- two great things that lots of people seem to be missing out on.

BQ: probably an assortment of Long Island Hardcore bands

  17. Batman And Robin #7
    Detective Comics #861
    Gi Joe Cobra Ii #1
    Green Lantern #50
    Jack Of Fables #42
Justice League Cry For Justice #6 (OF 7)
    Justice League Of America #41
    Star Wars Legacy #44
Superman Secret Origin #4 (OF 6)
Transformers Last Stand O/T Wreckers #1

BQ: "Did You Ever Know that You’re My Hero?" [The song in TheNextChampion’s opening credits will be the subtly different "Did You Ever Know that Your My Hero?"]
  18. Batman ad Robin & Superman origin are the two I’m looking foward to the most,

neither book has had a bad issue.

BQ:  Giving up the gun by Vampire Weekend

  19. @stuclach-haha, well played sir. Well played.

  20. A nice even 10 books this week. And the return of some great titles including Batman & Robin as well as Sup’s Secret Origin. Good reading ahead.

BQ: Love Like A Sunset by Phoenix

  21. @drakedangerz – Thank you, sir.

@TheNextChampion – No offense intended.  Just ribbin’ ya.

  22. Got a big ol stack of books this week 12! Kick Ass, Walking Dead, New Avengers, Echo, Unknown Soldier, Detective Comics, Secret Origin, Atom and Hawkman, Batman and Robin, Chew, FF, and Green Lantern. Compared to my 3 books from last week, and the one book 4 weeks ago, thats a shit ton for me.

    BQ: Help!

  23. Excited to finally be on issues with Chew this week.

BQ: 32 Flavors by Ani Difranco

  24. Too. Many. Comics.

BQ: Its unoriginal because I’m stealing from "The World according to Garp" but "When I’m 64" would be cool.

  25. Still not sick of Blackest Night so pretty much excited for those books across the board.

BQ: It’s gonna have an original score by a composer so awesome they have yet to be born! Future music.

  26. 9 books, lots of DC, a Marvel, a Boom and and an IDW.

I try to limit myself to $20 a week but I’ve blown that one out of the water.

BQ: "’O Fortuna’ Karl Orff" I couldn’t think of anything more pretentious.

  27. I predict Josh will pick…a…Batman book!

Me, well not sure if I’m allowed to pick my own comic.  But Kick-Ass #8 is going to be excellent!

If not for that, I would pick New Avengers or Fantastic Four.  Or Ultimate Enemy could be surprising.

  28. I like how Marvel’s event seven years in the making is just being totally blown out of the water by DC’s quality non-event books. Detective Comics, Batman & Robin and Superman Secret Origin are a hundred times more enjoyable than Siege. And than there’s DC’s actual event which is friggen awesome. Suck it Marvel

BQ:They actually made a documentary about my family already. it’s was this funny little film called ‘Capturing the Friedmans’ ahh, good times!

  29. Gah! Big week!
I’ll be picking up Amazing Spider-Man, Chew, GI Joe: Cobra, Irredeemable, Supergirl, Superman: Secret Origin, World’s Finest, and I am cautiously optimistic for Robocop #1.

BQ: Probably "Whip It" by Devo.

  30. Hammered by 15 books.

BQ: No Excuses – Alice in Chains.

  31. BQ; Jesus, what question.  Probably some David Bazan, Starflyer 59, Floyd, Zeppelin, older PJ, Shins, Soundgarden, 311, Allman Brothers, definitely Nirvana, and many more.  My answer is somewhat incriminating because I no longer listen to some of these bands as often or at all.

  32. Whoah, that is truly an epic pull list.  Can’t wait for the Batman double whammy (Cameron Stewart and Jock on the same week?  Mmmmm), the end of Reborn, Unknown Soldier and Hawkman & Atom (Johns with some sequential Sook art for the first time since Wednesday Comics…)

BQ: Wow, I’m not sure I have any idea.  It would probably change regularly, but right now I would consider An Ending (Ascent) by Brian Eno, Great Escape by Patrick Watson or Fred Jones Pt 2 by Ben Folds, for no other reason than I like them all right now and they’d fit the mood.

  33. A crushingly delightful week.  It’s a 14 book week, but everything looks to be really quality.  Looking forward to the return of Batman and Robin, the next Detective installment, Amazing Spider-Man, and all the other stuff.  I’m really excited.

BQ:  Mine would have to be "American Beauty- Dead Already" by Thomas Newman.  For some reason, it’s one of my most favorite tracks from a movie soundtrack, and while I love The Dark Knight and Star Trek Soundtracks, this one just fits.

  34. @edward: Seriously?

  35. Big week for me @ 14 books. Most looking forward to Chew, GL, Detective Comics, and Batman & Robin.

     BQ: Holiday by Vampire Weekend

  36. Big week. Probably most looking forward to Punisher, loving the Legion Of Monsters.

BQ: Great question. I woud go with "Aside" by the Weakerthans (somehow this song was also chosen to start the end credits of Wedding Crashers). While we’re at it, for the closing credits it’s "Upon Viewing Brueghel’s ‘Landscape with the Fall of Icarus’" by Titus Andronicus.

  37. BIG week for me, esp since I din’t get my books last week.  I’ll probably be reading all weekend.  I’m excited for pretty much everything on my list this week, especially Chew, Irredeemable, Detective and of course GI Joe Cobra II.  Blackest Night needs to start ending soon.

BQ: Probably something in Spanish, 80’s metal or rap.

  38. This week explains why the last few have been mediocre.  I mean, Batman and Robin, Green Lantern, Superman Secret Origin, Fantastic Four AND Chew?  All I need is GLC, Batgirl and Power Girl, and this would be my dream week.

  39. BQ: Take on Me by A-Ha

  40. 7 books!! CRAZY!

B&R, Supe’s Secret Origin, and TF’s "Last Stand of the Wreckers".. Awesome!!!

BQ: ELP’s "From the Beginning" would open the film and Supertramp’s "Fool’s Overture" would end it.

  41. Great week!!! i’m getting Green Lantern, Batman & Robin, Superman:Secret Origin, Detective Comics, Fantastic Four, Superman, JLA, Atom & Hawkman #46, JLA:Cry for Justice, Blackest Night: JSA, Walking Dead, Supergirl, Gotham City Sirens and maybe Worlds Finest and the new pilot season book.

BQ: Ummm…. Either Bros by Panda Bear or Oh, Sweet Nothing by The Velvet Underground. But, maybe Two Weeks by Grizzly Bear or I don’t Wanna Grow Up by Tom Waits…. Maybe Waterloo Sunset by The Kinks or Charlie Brown by Ghostface Killah….. Or maybe My Family’s Role in The Word Revolution by Beirut or Intro by The xx….. Any of those would be fine

  42. BQ: Get Fly by Atmosphere

  43. Fantastic Four, X-Factor, Thor

    BQ: Silver by the Pixies

  44. This week seems to be filed with Justice with JLA:Cry for Justice, Justice Society of America, Justice League of America, Blackest Night: Justice Society of America and that’s just my list!

I will be picking up the Losers trades as well.

BQ: Rush by Big Audio Dynamite 2 (You can’t forget the 2 at the end)

  45. I’m thinking Josh will pick Batwoman: Detective Comics. Rucka and Jock and a Williams III cover. If Dave Stewart does the colours this book is 100% win.

Of course Chew is coming out also. The Batman and Robin has been always great, as well as the Supes Origin and tons of others. There is a lot of stuff that’s going to be great Wednesday. Hard Pick.

  46. Atom and Hawkman #46
    Batman and Robin #7
    Detective Comics #861
    G.I. Joe: Cobra II #1
    Green Lantern #50
    Kick Ass #8
    Superman: Secret Origin #4
    Unknown Soldier #16
    The Walking Dead #69

BQ: "I Feel Like Dying" by Lil Wayne (Remixed by Flying Lotus)

  47. @ghettojourno  oooooh, excellent track sir

  48.  Superman: Secret Origins #4 is what I can’t wait to read!

BQ: My song would be "Amish Paradise" by Weird Al Yankovic.. " A local boy kicked me in the butt last week, I just smiled at him and I turned the other cheek."

  49. Green Lantern, G.I. Joe Cobra II, Batman and Robin, and Chew is all for me this week, the rest of the things I usually get I’ll get around to in June (long story, don’t ask). Regardless, I’m really excited for these books, so it all balances out

BQ: I’m Shipping Up To Boston by the Dropkick Murphys. I think about half of my life is spent driving to or from Boston these days, so I feel like it fits

  50. Light week on trades, good thing as I’ll have to save up for some of the omnibuses coming out next month!

  51. Big week. Especially if my LCS gets the Phantom Stranger/Power of Shazam one shots from earlier.

    Batman and Robin #7

    Chew #8

    Green Lantern #50

    Superman: Secret Origins #4

    Thor #606

BQ: For Whom the Bell Tolls by Metallica

  52. A good solid week for me:

    Amazing Spider – Man

    Batman and Robin

Captain America Reborn(glad that this is over with and we can get back to relative normalcy)

Chew(This weeks cover makes me laugh everytime I look at it)

    Daredevil

    Detective Comics

    Fantastic Four

    Green Lantern

Justice League of America(might break my rule on not buying variant covers with this one)

    Northlanders

Punisher(This is the book I’m most looking forward to:Good ol’ Rick Remender writing and KILLER art by Tony Moore)

BQ: A Bottle of Buckie by Ted Leo and The Pharmacists

  53. Batman and Robin #7

    Detective Comics #861

    Green Lantern #50

    Kick-ass #8

    Ultimate Comics Enemy #1

BQ: The Last Goodbye by Black Label Society

  54. BQ: "If I Ever Leave this World Alive" by Flogging Molly

  55. I’m 3 weeks behind in the funny books – this is gonna be nuts catching up.  But Green Lantern #50 and New Avengers #61 are definitely on my list this week.

    BQ: Star Wars Gangsta Rap

  56. Amazing Spider-man #619

    Batman & Robin #7

    Capt. America Reborn #6

    Daredevil #504

    Fantastic Four #575

    G.I. Joe: Cobra 2 #1

    Irredeemable #10

    New Avengers #61

    Punisher #13

    Thor #606

    X-Force #23

    X-Men Legacy #232

B.Q. This Aint No Picnic – Minutemen

  57. BQ: Probably "C is for cookie" by Monster, Cookie, because if I have to listen to my son play that song one more time, I’ll kill myself, so it’ll really be a poignant (and ultimately educational) opening.

  58. some of the favorites coming out this week: New Avengers, Green Lantern, Daredevil, conclusion of Cap Reborn, Thor, Avengers Initiative (EVERYBODY NEEDS TO READ THIS BOOK!)

BQ: I’m pretty sure I couldn’t do any better than "Into the Void" by Black Sabbath.

  59. My subscriptions to Thor and Ms Marvel run out after these issues. Ms Marvel I’m happy to see go, but I’d like to re-up on Thor if I can scrape together $20. Green Lantern looks intriguing, but the only way I could buy it is if I raided my kids bank account and I refuse to sink that low. They will be getting Archie #605 though. THey find this whole story fascinating. Infuriating, but fascinting. Myself, I was surprised to find out that Archie was a Mormon.

BQ: Right now I feel like it would be Beck’s Loser. Hopefully things start looking up in 2010. Like maybe Weezer’s Holiday.

  60. Between Cameron Stewart and Kate Kate, I guess I’m back on ‘ Batman & Robin’, at least for an arc.  Also looking forward to Detective, a Steve Rogers-heavy New Avengers, Echo, and my 2 favorite current X-books, XFactor and X-Men Legacy.

BQ: Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, "No Surrender"

  61. @Winthewonderboy: yes, i’m jesse… and i hate my mother

  62. BQ: World/Inferno Friendship Society- Me Vs. the Angry Mob

  63. @zenman: oh thats good one!

  64. Twenty Books!  My News Years Resolution is out the door. I could maybe cut two or three but Im gonna stick with Ms Marvel til the end.

BQ: "Epic" by Faith No More!   Patton is God!

  65. Spend over $50 in just floppys!! That never happens for me unless I’m buying a trade. Holy Moly!! Good stuff this week. Lots of Superman world, Batman world, Echo, Chew, Astro City, Cobra…can’t wait!!
