Light Week? Try TIME WARP #1, MARK WAID’S GREEN HORNET #1, & B.P.R.D.: VAMPIRE #1

Now comes the part where I relieve you, the little people, of the burden of your failed and useless comics. But, as my plastic surgeon always said: if you gotta go, go with a smile.

Time Warp #1

By Dan Abnett, Matt Kindt, Damon Lindelof, Peter Milligan, Toby Litt, Ray Fawkes, Simon Spurrier, Tom King,  Gail Simone, Mark Buckingham, Jeff Lemire, MK Perker, Victor Santos Montesinos, Jorge Corona, Rafael Albuquerque, Tom Fowler, I.N.J. Culbard, & Various

These little Vertigo anthologies have been pretty much wonderful, and if you search through those names, I’ll take Tom Fowler work any way I can get it. I bet a lot of you feel the same way about someone like Gail Simone, or that guy who did Lost.

BPRD_Vampire_1

B.P.R.D.: Vampire #1

By Mike Mignola, Fábio Moon, Gabriel Bá, & Dave Stewart

To be honest, I only vaguely remember the events of B.P.R.D. 1948, but I’m thrilled to see this direct sequel on the docket for this week. For one, these B.P.R.D. prequel minis, branded by year, were consistently fantastic diversions. They also included cameos by the adorable Kid Hellboy from the now legendary “Pancakes”short story. Then there’s the fact that this book is being drawn by Moon and Ba, a winning pedigree we see far too rarely these days. And c’mon. When’s the last time we saw a vampire in a comic book? Wait.

Comments

  1. That’s right. “Wait”. Morbius.

  2. That’s right. “Wait”. American Vampire.

  3. I missed Time Warp on this week’s pull list. I will certainly pick that up with all those quality names involved.

  4. Planning on picking up Time Warp tomorrow, but will probably wait on Green Hornet to hear what reaction is like. I’m curious to read Waid’s take on the character, but my budget’s pretty tight for allowing new on-goings . . .

  5. Oh, and, OK, “wait,” Demon Knights . . .

  6. I’ve never read any BPRD and only a couple of Hellboy trades but I’m going to get BPRD Vampire, the art team alone is worth checking out!
I’m also trying out “East of West”, which I’m surprised no one has mentioned yet.

  7. Ill be reading all three of these.. looking forward!

  8. The Rip Hunter story by Lindelof and Lemire that starts off Time Warp is worth the price of admission alone.
