Now you fellas have said some pretty mean things. Some of which were true under that fiend, Boss Grissom. He was a thief, and a terrorist. On the other hand he had a tremendous singing voice. He’s dead now, and he’s left me in charge. Now, I can be theatrical, and maybe even a little rough – but one thing I am not, is a killer. I am an artist. I love a good comic. So, truce. Commence au festival!

The Pound: Ghoul’s Night Out #1

By Stephan Nilson and Ibrahim Moustafa

I am biased. That’s right. I’ll admit that right up front. The artist on this book, Ibrahim Moustafa is a guy I know. He’s a guy I’ve worked with, and he’s hungry, and talented, and you’re all going to know his name as some point in the future. The guys behind the book aren’t so bad either. The dog catchers who got way in over their heads with werewolves are now having a problem with ghouls. Oh, and one more thing: John Prufrock from Proof is guest starring! It’s got me excited.

Sword of Sorcery #0

By Christy Marx, Aaron Lopresti & Matt Ryan

Staying true to the format of LIGHT WEEK, sometimes you gotta say, “What the hell” and pick up something totally strange, foreign and new to you.  For me this week, it will be Sword of Sorcery #0 featuring Amethyst!  Who is Amethyst? I have no idea except that she has a sword, that may or may not involve sorcery.  Join me on this adventure!

Young Justice #20

By Greg Weisman & Christopher Jones

The second series of the awesome Cartoon Network series jumped ahead five years to find, among other things, Dick Grayson having graduated from Robin to Nightwing, and a young Tim Drake as Robin alongside Batgirl among a host of new Young Justice members. Now, the excellent companion series finally makes the leap into the future with the TV series and you’ve got a perfect place to jump on the comic book series.

  1. I’m liking the Nightwing and Batgirl costumes in YJ #20, way better than the nDCU

it makes no sense that Superman would have knee pads while regular humans like Nightwing wouldn’t have shoulder pads

  2. I can’t decide if I’m going to pick up Sword and Sworcery or not.

Has anyone heard anything positive or negative about it?

  3. Looking at the cover of Sword and Sorcery I don’t think I’m the target audience for that book. 7-12 year old girls yes. Comic book reader in his 30’s….no.

  4. Very excited for YJ #20. I will pick up Sword and Sorcery for my wife…and will likely read it. Pound looks interesting… I will flip through it at the store and. it’ll be a game time decision.

  5. I bet the art will be stellar in Sword of Sorcery. And we’re going to see Amethyst in Justice League Dark. Embrace something different nerds.

  6. Can’t wait for Young Justice #20. Been looking forward to the time jump and the new team. Plus the show is coming back soon so this is going to be awesome.

  7. The Pound is on my short list for digital stuff I need to catch up on. I’m glad there is another series. I really liked Issue #1.

  8. When is Young Justice coming back to tv? Definitely gonna give the 0 issue a go.

  9. I’m in the same boat as Ron, I have no idea what Sword and Scorcerey is, but I’m going to give it a shot.

  10. I wish the New 52 would have taken more cues from Young Justice when deciding how to reboot the DC universe. The tweaks they’ve made in Young Justice to the characters (e.g. how Beast Boy got his powers) have been familiar, but different enough to keep it modern and exciting for a new audience. I love the show, so perhaps it’s finally time to check out the comic!

  11. Oooooo, guess I’ll give young justice another go!
