  1. Out of all the #0 issue’s this one is my most awaited. I really need some fantasy in my comic booking diet.

  2. I’m on the fence with this one. I might try this issue.

  3. Been looking forward to this for a while I hope its as interesting as I think it will be.

  4. When I was a kid, my friend gave me an issue of Amethyst as a gift, I think for my birthday. We both liked comics but I was a little bummed that a book about some magic girl was what he got me. But it was this crazy scary story where this guy bloated up into a giant blob and I think she mercy killed him in the end. So it turned out to be pretty bad ass.

I hope this is bad ass, too.

  5. “The long-awaited return of AMETHYST”?

Who the PHUK is waiting for Amethyst?

  6. Most anticipated book of the week. I love DC’s non-superhero stuff. Both because it’s interesting in itself and because the writer has to be clever in order to make it fit into a superhero world.

I’m hoping the next wave includes Kamandi or Anthro.

  7. Incredibly excited for this. I’m hoping that this is going to be a great Saturday Morning cartoon adventure title.

Additionally, I’m kind of surprised that the solicit doesn’t credit the fact that Marx created Jem & The Holograms, since I’m assuming that this is going to draw a few things from that.

  8. Is Tony Bedard a good writer?

  9. High hopes for this. Bedard on the backup story is fine with me. I love GL New Guardians.

  10. Does anyone else feel that they kind of missed the boat with not making the backup Warlord? It just seems such a natural fit and a great way to build a fantasy line again…

    • Warlord came to my mind halfway through the backup, I thought that was where they were leading up to. II wasn’t really paying any attention to any title pages or references to Beowulf until the end. However I dont think Warlord would have been the back up if paired with Amethyst…I think Amethyst would have been the back up.

Regardless I had a lot of fun with this. It did seem a bit simplistic so Im hoping for a bit more complexity next issue. But this was a lot of fun and Im definitely on board!

    • Good point. It would have been the other way around…the backup wasn’t awful…I’m intrigued and psyched for issue 1. Total Saturday morning fun.

  11. Good book and the backup I thought was awesome

  12. this book was better than it had any right to be:)

    will pick up #1.

  13. This was pretty good….BUT……god I hate when they don’t use an inker and just color the pencils……might be a deal breaker for me.

  14. Thought I’d give it a whirl I loved the Amethyst Story and thought the Beowulf was okay but would of prefered if they just dropped Beowulf and just had a $2.99 Amethyst book.

  15. Thinking about giving this to a 9 year old. Does everyone think it’s ok content-wise. Both stories? I thought so, but I would love others’ opinions.
