SUPREME #63

By Alan Moore, Erik Larsen & Cory Hamscher

A NEW ALAN MOORE SUPER HERO COMIC! That’s all you need to know. Well, I suppose it’s good to know that this is the next book in the Extreme relaunch at Image, and is the last Supreme script that Alan Moore wrote for Rob Liefeld back in the late 1990s that never got published. Erik Larsen and Cory Hamscher team up to bring Moore’s last Supreme script to life. For those of you who were around back when Moore was on Supreme, you knew that the book was something to behold, and this issue won’t disappoint.

Flex Mentallo: Man of Muscle Mystery – Deluxe Edition Hardcover

By Grant Morrison & Frank Quitely

You’ve waited for a long time. Or maybe you didn’t know you were waiting, but you were. Lawsuits cleared up and a management change at DC HQ made a reprint of this early Morrison and Quitely team possible, and I have never read it, so I’m very excited about it. There are not many teams in modern comics that have the deserved caché of these two, and as far as I can tell, there’s nothing else like it out there.

Men of War #8

By Jeff Lemire, Matt Kindt, Tom Derenick, & Rob Leigh

It would seem that while this book is going down, DC is not letting it go down quietly. I like that. Current (and soon to be former) Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E. writer Jeff Lemire and new Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E. writer Matt Kindt team up to bring us a a weird war tale in which Frankenstein teams up with G.I. Robot to fight the Axis in World War II. Sounds like fun to me.

Comments

  1. The crazy thing about Flex Metnallo is that it’s actually BETTER then even what the comic blogsphere hypes it up about. It’s a goddamn comic book masterpiece.

  2. I will not believe that the Flex Mentallo hardcover is real until i see it in the shop!

  3. I can only join the chorus of folks highly recommending Flex Mentallo.

But I barely remember the ending, which is why I can’t wait to reread it.

So in a way the me of before is also recommending it to the me of now.

    How Morrisonian is that?

  4. i seriously thought the Flex Mentallo solicit was an April Fools Day prank at first. I am so excited for this, have been waiting years!

    • i’m one of the people who didn’t know he was waiting for Flex Mentallo. Until i read supergods. Which is also a great read.

  5. I also didn’t realise I was waiting for it but now I do. So there.
