Hellboy (sort of) Returns in Dark Horse Presents #7

Hellboy…is no more!

He has ceased to be! ‘E’s expired and gone to meet ‘is maker! ‘E’s a stiff! Bereft of life, ‘e rests in peace! ‘Is metabolic processes are now ‘istory! ‘E’s off the twig! ‘E’s kicked the bucket, ‘e’s shuffled off ‘is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisibile!! THIS IS AN EX-OCCULT INVESTIGATOR!!

At least in 2011, given the events of Hellboy: The Fury #3. But in 1956, he was down Mexico way. You may recall an adventure involving some hemoglobin goblin’ turkeys and a batty luchador in the stunning Hellboy in Mexico. An escapade with moments seemingly lost to tequila. But now that Big Red is dead and gone, Mike Mignola and Richard Corben are ready to air that bit of dirty laundry in the pages of Dark Horse Presents #7, due out in January.

It’s a tale called…

Hellboy vs. the Aztec Mummy!

Hellboy vs. the Aztec Mummy by Mike Mignola

As set up in the critically acclaimed one-shot from Mike Mignola and comics legend, Richard Corben, this all-new story will follow Hellboy through further adventures south of the border. In 1956, Hellboy was sent to Mexico to investigate a series of mass killings. This 8-page story recounts another hazy event during his time there, and features plenty of fodder for casual and hardcore Hellboy fans; a Mexican bat-god, an Aztec mummy, and of course, a Luchador!

“Back in 1956 Hellboy spent several months stumbling drunkenly through Mexico and this is just one of the odd things that may or may not have happened to him during that time. He claims to have no memory of this particular incident but that doesn’t mean it’s not true.” – Mike Mignola

Good times.
