May 29, 2013 7:41 am FINALLY! How is your local store owner going to know things are not what they could be if the clientele don't say anything? Don't criticise them. Ask whether they have certain products, are they planning any signings or opening the floor up for local comic book artists to work in public? Does the store have a copy of Previews on the front counter for customers to flick through? Then point out stuff that might be cool. If you don't let them know what you want, how can they make their store someplace that you want to visit?
May 29, 2013 7:15 am I gave up on "Batman" after issue #1. The Court of Owls has always been there, but Batman is only just now becoming aware of it? Gimme a break.
May 24, 2013 6:50 am I loved Stephanie as Robin. I still fondly remember the scene where she wanted to drive the Batmobile. Having her there made the Bat books a happier read. I would be on board with her return, despite the excellent send off she received as Batgirl, but there would be a part of me that would have the hope that she gets her "happily ever after" at the same time.
June 15, 2012 6:51 am Fantastic news. Stephanie was an excellent Robin and the way Batman reacted to her put me firmly in her corner. I understand that the way her series ended was a good closing off point with many questions answered. That said, I'm so glad she's back and having her show up as Nightwing poses some interesting possibilities.
January 15, 2012 10:19 pm OMAC gone!? What is wrong with DC? Classic Kirby style and lots of fun. Right up there with Frankenstein Agent of SHADE. They should have combined the two titles at least, seeing as they just had a cross-over. I'll pick up GI Combat becaue it seems close to the old Weird War Tales, but as for the rest, I can't bothered. Like we need another Batman title. This global franchise idea is lame considering he is supposed to be the Dark Night detective striking fear into criminals. Picture it: Crim: "Who are yoooou!?" Batman: "I'm Ronald Mc... err, Batman".
January 15, 2012 10:10 pm OK. That's twice now that Erica Durance has worn the outfit. Once in Smallville in an episode featuring Zatanna where she was at a comic con or some such thing. Now this. If she's not angling for the part if it ever comes up again, then it's an interesting coincidence. As for Harry's Law - blah.
November 30, 2011 6:10 am I sort of know your pain. When I was 15, my dad decided I'd spent too much time reading comics and not enough on schoolwork. So, apart from banning TV in our house for a year, he burned my entire collection. Hundreds of comics and stuff that would be worth a mint now like debuts of Wolverine, Punisher, FF Reed & Sue wedding, early Spidey. To top it off, years later he revealed that he'd saved some of my comics in the shed. You guessed it. All the stuff that was worthless and so poorly stored it was covered in mould. I restarted my collection in '86 and bought a lot of the stuff that was lost along the way. Anyway, I now catalogue everything using Filemaker (including plot summaries) and the Mac backs up to a 1TB HDD every 8 hours. If I lost it again would I start again? With more than 6,000 issues and no kids to pass the collection on to as yet, it's doubtful. Probably only the stand out issues.
November 18, 2011 7:51 am I'm glad no one is commenting on the feminist aspects of this change because as far as I can see, all of the posters bar two are male. Joss W, if you're out there, we could use the insights you may have gained from your feminist studies degree. The clay thing is silly, but you have to ask why was that important to her creator? I think it was a way of distancing her from any affiliation with males. It's even more than cutting yourself off on an island with a tribe of other women. Now, she's at about the same level as other women by having a male connection. The philandering dog driving his wife into a murderous rage as father and her as his bastard child is probably not going to sit well with feminists.
October 9, 2011 7:05 am Week 2 is a bit of a turn around. I liked Animal Man #1 and was a little bit about Swamp Thing #1, thinking this thing might have promise. Now, SW has shown it's living up to it's potential. On the other hand, the art in Animal Man doesn't work for me and the daughter is almost as annoying as the youngest child on the "Terra Nova" TV series. OMAC looks like it will continue to please.
October 2, 2011 8:48 am Different doesn't begin to describe it. Try emasculated. That final page where Clark turns up unexpectedly at Lois's apartment was just too heavy handed in contrasting the Superman persona with Clark. It's not like he's exploring anything new here either. Coming after Superman's walk across America, this is both an about face and a huge fall.
