I’d jumped off Uncanny X-Men earlier this summer, but the solicitation text got the better of me. “I’m an X-Men fan,” I said, “so apparently I can’t miss this!”

First of all, the art is by Dale Eaglesham and not Daniel Acuña (as stated in the solicit) or Ron Garney (as stated in Marvel’s house ad in AVX 12). I haven’t read a lot of Eaglesham’s work, and while his work here generally gets the job done, some pages were really not working for me. But Kieron Gillen did a great job with the inner monologue showing us another angle on many scenes from AVX. And the final scenes between Beast and Cyclops were chilling.

I don’t think I’m going to go back and fill in the issues I skipped this summer, but I’ll be back next month to see how Gillen wraps up yet another volume of Uncanny X-Men.

Story: 4 - Very Good
