I decided to sample this because AvX was out this week this was supposed to be AvX #12 through Cyclops’ POV. I should have just read the fourth chapter of Watchmen because this issue seemed to be a pale homage with Cyclops as Dr. Manhattan.
Poor Kieron Gillen. With these tie-ins, he’s really scraping the bottom of the barrel with fresh ideas that aren’t already in the main event.
Dale Englesham actually pencilled this (not the solicited Acuna) and his art is “meh.” Nothing spectacular, nothing God-awful. Just uninspired pictures telling a story. My favorite part of the issue was Englesham taking advantage of Marvel’s editors not caring anymore how Beast is drawn. From panel to panel Beast’s appearance changes from Morrison’s “New X-Men” to Perez’s “Avengers.” Thanks for the attention to detail, Marvel. Now get off the event tie-in train and give us some quality stories.
