Here’s the big problem with this ‘Symbiote’ arc right now: If you never played the PS2 game then you wont get this. Seriously, you need to play that game in order to get this.

Don’t get me wrong, this reads find if you’ve read all 124 past issues, and if you didnt play the game…well maybe you’ll still like the story. But a lot of characters from the game are in this, a lot of the symbiote plot is from the game, and finally a lot of what happenend to Pete at the end of this issue is definitely a call back to the video game.

Again, this was a good issue. I enjoyed it and I am loving this Ultimate Beetle. Sure I never heard of the original counterpart, but because he’s so silent just angers so many people. Hell even Venom tried to get him to say something, pretty funny to me. Overall it’s not the worst arc ‘evah’ if you never played the game. But try and pick that up first…and definitely the volume/issues with the Venom arc. You need the backstory in order to get all of the references.

(P.S.-My favorite moment this week was a civilian actually standing up to Spidey, and he praises them for doing so. It’s weird cause for so long I’ve never seen much of anyone praising or helping Spider-Man. Bendis called it on this issue and made me laugh when I heard Spidey praise the person.)
