The art in the issue felt cleaner and flowed more naturally than the first one did. It felt more like noir and had much more mood to it. I felt much more in touch with the characters than in the first issue, I started to get an idea of their personalities and desires. Torch begins to develop as a person, Angel takes greater steps towards becoming a costumed adventurer. Nick Fury extracts Erskine from the Nazi science development in what is, probably, the best drawn segment in the book. A few problems trouble this book. First, it feels very much like this exact story has been done before, both in Marvel and in other series, and been done better. Second, I never feel the threat against the characters when I'm reading. For some reason I am very detached from theteh story and it fails to lure me in. Third, the writing seems to be unnecessarily wordy - allow the art to carry more load, I trust in Epting.
Story: 3 - Good
Art: 4 - Very Good
Art: 4 - Very Good
While I agree that this is a story that has been done almost to death, I found the writing to be quite good. The narrative by Angel really moves the book along, and some of it was quite poignant, particularly towards the end.
