Iconic.  It’s the only word that really pops into my head with the end of this series.  Iconic storylines, characters, and art make this the must read Superman origin from here on end.  While this final issue certainly took its time hitting the stands, I can’t fault it after looking at the beautiful art that fills its pages.  Gary Frank is a modern master, and if someone told me he would draw Superman forever, I’d give that person a hug.  It’s what you do when something so perfect happens.  Even though he won’t be drawing this title forever, Frank’s work on the early days of Superman leaps right off the page.  His composition is perfect, and his storytelling is flawless.  And I’m not exaggerating when I say that there are some iconic pictures in this issue.  All of his splash pages are simply gorgeous.  Besides the art, the story is excellent, tying up each of the pieces from earlier issues while also laying the foundational seeds for all of the current goings-on for the past few years of Superman.  The story doesn’t feel too fast or too slow, and the extra pages allowed Frank and Johns to put a nice cap to the end of the story.  If I had one complaint, it’s that the final few pages feel a little heavy handed by driving home the point a little too much.  Much like his effort for the Green Lantern series, this Secret Origin is not one to miss, and it’s perfect for anyone interested in what Superman is all about.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
