What’s the Internet sound effect for a disgruntled moan?

I thought with the original creative team being off the book so quickly DC must have realised something wasn’t working, yet reading this issue was like reading the first issue again.

All the cast talk in over the top exposition while Superman monologues to explain everything we can see him doing. This is a visual medium after all. The art is competent, and could tell the story is given a chance.

There was one fun scene between the Planet staff that had me thinking this book had potential, but we were quickly ripped away from the Clark/Lois/Jimmy fun to meet a villain whose monologues could give Superman a run for his money.

I’ve been reading comics a while now, and am just looking for a fun Superman story I can really get into. This is not yet. I’m out until the next creative shift.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 4 - Very Good

Comments

  1. I flipped through this and it looked boring to me. Two clunker creative teams in a row? 🙁 Superman deserves better.

  2. I’m not much of a Superman fan, but love the old Giffen books. It does not sound, though, like this is a title I should pick up. Thanks for the review.

  3. This is not classic Giffen, but it was a good read, IMO.
