Avoiding the lateness, the biggest issue I’ve had with this mini is that I found myself not caring for the main character. He’s just another stereotypical anti-hero and I couldn’t find myself caring about his predicament. Sure he’s got this imaginary creature by his side but that’s not much of a distinction to sway me. That all pretty much changes with this issue.

It was bleak to be sure. We get to learn why Nick is so angry and his life is pretty shitty. Just imagine how bad Jim Gordon’s life was in ‘Batman: Year One’ and how it could have gotten worse. That is Nick’s life in nutshell and Morrison somehow made me start to care about the guy. Also, I liked how even the imaginary horse started to get depressed once he realizes how everyone in the train is so angry around the holidays. I find it hard to believe all of these coincidences fit so perfectly for the final issue…But whatever. I’m sure Morrison will make it somehow work with the final issue….Whenever that is.
