I recall the last time Futurama was reviewed, I mentioned the only way to enjoy the series is the DVD’s and this comic line. Well call it a sign from god but apparently Matt Groening and David Cohen has signed on to do a full two seasons for Comedy Central! However this is a black spot on this news cause apparently over a pay dispute, the original voice actors won’t come back. While I could spend this entire review spending why that is the worst thing to ever happen in Television lately. Let’s just ignore that last spot of bad news and get to a really fun comic.

There was a concept introduced in the series that was never really explored. In the year 3000, you would have dreams that would have advertising in it. While one episode focused on this idea, it was basically ignored for the rest of the series. However, the main storyline for this comic was Fry working at the industry that plants the advertising in people’s minds. It’s pretty funny on what people are dreaming. Zoidberg thinks he’s McDreamy, The Professor has the Knights of the Elemental Table, and Zapp Brannigan….well he loves Velour. What resolves around the plot is some really funny moments that could easily translate into the series. A bunch of cameos from the Flash family (who run the ‘Speed Force Burgers’) and The Sandman also is Fry’s boss at his new job. But there’s one joke that tops them all:

‘Well Now I see the problem full hand…..and thank you for providing the information with these puppets’-Professor.

Cheap joke but damnit I couldnt stop laughing from this.

People shouldn’t overlook this and the Simpsons comics that come out. They are genuinely funny and if your a fan of these shows. Why wouldnt you want to read more of what you love? I hope the contract disputes ends and we have the voice actors back on the relaunch of the series. If it doesn’t happen though….well this can be just as equal as a replacement to the original series.

  1. Where did you find a copy of this?  My shop doesn’t carry anything remotely related to this.

  2. @CurrentChampion: Well I……oh I see what your doing with that name 🙂

It was at my actual job, at a Borders in the mall.

  3. @TheNextChampion – Cool. I work at a Barnes & Noble.

  4. They’ll take previous dubbing, cut them up into single words and paste them together to form new sentences. It’s going to be awesome.
