Frank Castle is a monster. It’s something we forget all to often. Rick Remender certainly hasn’t forgotten it as the last years worth of Punisher stories have gone out of their way to point out this cold hard fact in quite the ludicrous yet fun and poignant way. Frank has been one of my favorite characters for as long as I’ve been reading comics but this year Remender helped me remember why. It’s because Frank has no delusions about what he’s doing and no reservations about doing it. He is perhaps the most sane person in the Marvel Universe which is a sobering fact to say the least. This issue was pitch perfect in every aspect. Remender brought it all home and Dan Brereton crafted a gorgeously monstorous finale for Franken-Castle. But the icing on the cake was the epilogue. Grim and gritty, cleaning up the streets. That’s what Frank Castle does. That’s his f*cking world!

Welcome home Frank.

  1. Damn, damn, your review is making me want to go back and pick up the issues I missed. I dropped off when the crossover hit but not because of quality. I really loved Remender’s monster stories, especially the origin of the monster hunter from the first arc.

    Great review!

  2. dude, if you’re ready for the craziness of it it’s such a fun ride and i bet it reads damn good in trade
