With some great assistance from Robert DeLaTorre and Matt Hollingsworth, Andy Diggle is converting me.

The transistion from Brubaker to Diggle; from weepy Target Daredevil to Questioning Leader Of The Hand Daredevil has been visually, and narratively smooth.  It makes me question why he was so incapable of handling the issue to issue crossover work with Daniel Way on Deadpool/Thunderbolts.

Here, Diggle promotes a change in both Matt Murdock and The Kingpin’s behavior which seem plausible.  Probable, even.    And DeLaTorre’s pencils are beautiful, and owe a huge pat on the ass to Matt Hollingsworth’s colors.  There are some fantastic contrast pages littered throughout the book, and the openine page church ceremony , balanced with the second page patented Daredevil on a column/gargoyle pose were a fantastic visual way to draw the readers in.

This is also, possibly the best use of the Dark Reign era, in that Osborne and HAMMER are mentioned as being catalysts for some big changes, but don’t actually appear anywhere in the issue.  I wish more writers in this Dark Reign era would see the changes more as the setting for their stories, as opposed to the driving plot points.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

  1. @akamuu – I like the point about the Dark Reign in the background. On the other hand (no joke intended), I found the rest of the book a little less compelling.
