This is a very strange universe John Layman has created. The more ‘boring’ aspects of our government has nothing but top level assassins and operatives. This issue shows yet another unique member, who works for the USDA, and has……huge….tracks of land.

Layman’s sense of humor continues to delight me and there are some pretty good jokes in here. I love the whole elevator scene and the one page of the tourists seeing Chu and Woo ‘in action’. I also love all of the aspects of Chu’s brother being a celebrity on this island; I kinda forgot he was a big deal in terms of popularity. The fight in here is also brutal and Layman (and more so of Gulliory) shows us just how violent this series can get.

Every issue of Chew is like the last: Almost perfect and one of the more unique comics out there. It has very good artwork and Guillory does some layouts that other writers wish they could be that unique. Plus the story continues to get weirder and weirder as we move on. I mean the last page……seriously? Overall it is still one of the best comics out there right now and not just the best indie comic either.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
