This is a very weird issue. Which is saying something when the main character is a guy who can eat things and envision what killed that said thing. For some reason, John Layman and Rob Guillory has decided to take us into the future! As said in the first page, this is not a joke, this is the real deal. Eventually we will get to this storyline but for now we get a sneak peak at the 2012 arc: ‘Space Cakes’.

Taking away the novelity of the issue, it’s as good as an issue and all the previous one’s. It did get a bit confusing because a lot seemed to have happened to Tony between the 18th issue and this one. However the focus is on his sister, Antonelle, so we only get vague hints at what’s going on. This adventure Antonelle has is action packed and hilarious like all the other Tony missions. I’m serious when I said that this is as good issue without the novelity. I mean it has amazing art as always by Guillory and there’s a lot of humor about with Layman’s script.

I’m not sure if the novelty issue was really needed. This is a fun comic as always but I really don’t see the reason for doing this ‘flashforward’. It doesn’t hamper the enjoyment of this particular issue, but I’d rather like to know more what’s going on with Tony after the amazing issue last month. In the end it does make me excited for ‘Space Cakes’ in 2012 so if that was the point of this then mission accomplished.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
