I loved how Anti-Venom apologized (as Eddie Brock) to Aunt May and then goes on to gleefully whallop Spidey just a few pages later. Maybe Venoms don't change their stripes? But Eddie seems to be struggling to find his footing, and I find myself rooting for him. He's a cancer survivor, for goodness' sakes.
This arc apparently is going to go longer than the usual 3 books, which is very good news if you've been enjoying JR Jr.'s art as I have. The opening page was a great showcase of what he can do, Spidey swinging across town as fast as his webs can take him. Slott continues to deliver, with some punchy dialogue and great action scenes.
I can't help but wonder if Menace (or... Mockgoblin) is really Harry. I could see it, since his attacks on Hollister seem to be more for show to generate sympathy for him than to actually hurt him. Pluse the appearance of Menace here seems to follow one of Harry's angry episodes.I can't wait for more! Oh, wait a new issue comes out in 5 days?!? Sweet!

I liked how Spidy kept talking to Eddie like he was a psychotic child and directing him towards Venom when he’d start to get confused again. JRJR is such a fantastic artist, it seems like the last few years have just upped his style to a whole new level.
JR Jr is one of those rare talents whose art has seamlessly made the transition to modern print production style. But his old work on Spider-man in the 80’s is also really, really good. And I wonder what his X-Men run would have looked like if Klaus Janson was inking.
