The internet should've exploded last week with #569. I mean a lot of us called it but there were some continuity problems that were brought up in the book. One with being Eddie Brock mentioning his 'purge' of Venom even though that happenend before OMD, and that Parker might know more about his deal with Mephisto then we're being let on. Sure this could all be a very annoying trick to make internet fans of the comic burst into a rage cause of this mess. Also that they could have plans for these off-hand references for future issues...In fact an interview on ign.com stated that there is an event in this BND world that made everyone forget Parker is Spider-man. Well that might be all well and good but why the hell would you bring it up now and not's say oh.....Months ago!! Like the beginning of this boring BND run!!!

Anyways I'm turning into a 'hater' here and so I'm back typing up a review for a very mundane arc. My last review, on the first part, made me believe this is 'by the numbers' storytelling. Although this is still the case there are some interesting aspects that could this arc work or future issues work. I actually did like this 'Anti'-Venom and it certainly makes for an interesting religious aspect. It seems to me Brock found God while he had cancer so he seems to want to 'purge' Venom out of Gargan like it's the devil or something. Add in that he has the attention of a five year old and hurts innocent people you could get a really messed up villian here.

But overall the story is really lacking with finesse for me. I really dont see why this had to be six parts, it's just stretching to get to the invediable Green Goblin vs Boring Goblin fight. The writing was very sub-par as well as the only enjoyable stuff was really Eddie talking. The huge fight scene was boring as well and it seems to me that symbiotes can only make fists cause that's all they really did here. The art though was still pretty good, if anything Romita Jr. will be up for best artist this year for any award show. I mean the panels are really laid out well and even if a lot of the story was 'blah' he does add a good amount of emotion to the characters. Although I must admit, I could not tell that was Osbourne until I saw his name cause he looks nothing like he does in Thunderbolts issues.

So yeah this is just run of the mill for me. Pretty much my overall feeling of this whole (cough)notarecon(cough). Most of the stories have been bland to down right bad and this wont be remembered for being the best Spidey story out there. It's gonna have to wow me for the next issue at the store or I'll just not even bother up to this point. You got me trying this title again with all the hype and it's still not as good as JMS's run was....even if that was painful enough to read in itself.
