Swamp Thing #1 Page One

Scott Snyder (or as we call him around here, “the fount of content”) went to Twitter and posted a look at the first page of Swamp Thing #1, written by Snyder, and drawn by Yanick Paquette.

Hey Clark!

He’s previously posted pages 2, 3, and 4, shown below. Make sure to read our recap of his Twitter teasings on the title.

  1. Looking forward to this. I picked up all the Alan Moore HCs a few months ago and loved them. Snyder has been great on American Vampire so he has the horror chops.

I wonder if Swampy’s gonna replace J’onn as the telepathic link for all the heroes.

    lol@”the fount of content”.

Looking forward to this series. It’ll be interesting to see how far this series and the new Animal Man will be able to deal with the “anxiety of influence” from Moore and Morrison’s respective runs on those titles.

    May I have this NOW!?!?!?!?!?!

  8. This looks really, really, really good.

Although, if I can just nitpick a tiny bit, the first page shows my problem with inkers on his work. I don’t remember if he inks himself (someone verify for me please?) but whether he does or doesn’t it’s took thick for me. The rest of the art shown looks fantastic (especially the Sups/Bats/Aqua two page spread) but when you see the first page the lines look a bit too thick. It’s not a deal break or anything, again just a nitpick, but it’s hard not to notice.

I’m still a bit unsure about the new Swamp Thing (as I am with Snyder generally). It seems an odd way to open a Swamp Thing book, and I really hope, now that it’s in the DCU, he doesn’t make, imo, the mistake of making it too highly connected and reliant on the universe, other characters and whatever silly event happens to be going on this year. But this and Animal could very easily be a double whammy of brilliance.

  13. Alright, I’m in. I’m going to need a part-time job just to keep up with these new titles though.

  14. K.FLIP K.FLIP says:

Wow now this is going straight to the top of the read pile with Animal Man. Finally Dc put out some great new books.

  15. JSAkid JSAkid says:

I love Swampy, I didn’t care for Yanick Paquette’s art on early issues of Batman Inc, but think the horror swamp vibe is a better fit for it.

  16. Loser13 Loser13 says:

nice, i love the panel w/ the animals and sea life dying. i like the start

  17. NaveenM NaveenM says:

I’m really looking forward to this. I’m reading the Alan Moore run now. It’ll be an interesting juxtaposition.

  18. adrianrigter adrianrigter says:

Can’t wait. the ‘Dark’ books in particular really look to have fantastic art.

  19. Wasn’t planning on picking this up, but after watching the Q and A with Snider, seems like such a genuinely nice and talented dude that I have to.

  20. What’s that in the last panel?

  21. Friedmiester Friedmiester says:

Why is Superman, Batman, and Aquaman hold thier fingers to their heads like they have telepathy or something?
