iFanboy Update: After 13 Years It’s Finally Time To Scale Back
September 3, 2013 4:38 pm Great write-up dude, I'll miss all of our conversations, bickerings, and opinions. It was like hanging out at a bar where everyone wanted to talk about that last issue of Batman Inc.
See you Space Cowboy...

iFanboy Update: After 13 Years It’s Finally Time To Scale Back
September 3, 2013 4:17 pm Awwww, this is such sad news. Thanks for all the pull list updates every week (it couldnt have been easy), all the great articles from artist spotlights to movie reviews, and to the great community!
A lot of us had differing opinions on comics but it was still nice to have a place we can all open a dialogue about issue X of Y series. That pull list became so integral to the way I buy comics/trades too, I'll really miss this place but alas, the podcast continues so onward to new and exciting things!

BATMAN AND NIGHTWING #23
August 23, 2013 9:36 pm This was such a heartfelt issue, just amazing work all around. Easily my POTW.
Patrick Gleason is slowly becoming my new favorite artist.

AVENGERS #18
August 23, 2013 3:57 pm I didnt like this issue very much. I guess because some characters are in spaceships while others are zooming around in classic poses, but it just felt like a huge laser light show.
The council didnt really collect data or devise much of a strategy. One alien brought up a tactic they already used in a previous war and that was pretty much it.

Ben Affleck is Batman in ‘Man of Steel’ Sequel
August 23, 2013 9:45 am I really dont have much interest in future DC movies and Affleck as Batman only solidifies that. But hey, these things can surprise us sometimes...it'll be after a dvd rental though.
As for Afflecks directing, I thought Argo was shot well but felt it was still a very paint-by-numbers kind of movie. Didnt like any of his other movies but he was the bomb in Phantoms.

BATMAN #23
August 18, 2013 8:47 am Yup, a beating and two gunshots to the torso, then he walks all the way to his mansion.
The word "human" in comic books has always had a loose definition...but this is getting a bit ridiculous.
I still enjoyed reading this issue....but I'll never accept "Bruce Wayne is a human" by anyone again. He has indestructible organs and bones. 28 hours fighting different people and he still has a face? lol, who did he fight the lollipop guild?
They should drop him out of a plane completely naked in the next issue, maybe he'll glide towards an eagle and ride it all the way back to Gotham. Or a bat for symbolism.

BATMAN, INCORPORATED #13
July 31, 2013 4:10 pm Well...it happened. Pretty mediocre at best.
-----------------------SPOILERS--------------------------
The interaction between Batman and Talia felt different here, like neither of them even cared to be in the story to begin with. Wingman's part in all this was just kinda blurted out (even in a joking manner, despite all that's happened), then a mysterious golden gun appears out of a trap-door.
The epilogue....well it was there and it didnt excite me for things to come at all. If it wasnt for Burnham's art, I would've felt completely jipped.

BATMAN ANNUAL #2
July 31, 2013 9:41 am It's a mostly contained Arkham Asylum/Anchoress issue.
I felt the last annual was decent and this one was worse. Not sure how it sits at 25% POTW already but oh well.

‘The Wolverine’
July 30, 2013 9:40 am Definitely better than Origins. The first half of the movie really got me, it was entertaining and kinda refreshing. The second half wasnt horrible, but it definitely ran off the tracks and kinda soured the overall movie for me.
------SPOILERS--------
(it's habit)
I didnt understand Viper's power very well, it seemed like something that you cant purge from your body without having Viper physically there with you (like how you'd need snake venom in order to make anti-venom). There's even a scene where she uses the power on Harada and it isnt reversed until she touched him again. Instead, it took the shape of a little spider and Logan could just yank it out himself. Just a small gripe storywise.
My biggest gripe would have to be the heated adamantium katana that can cut unheated adamantium. What? That was just a very odd way to take the story. Although the trailers ensured me that Silver Samurai would be a mech, I just wanted to see Hiroyuki Sanada fight Wolvie in that adamantium armor and equipped with adamantium katanas. Sadly, it never happened.
For a split-second, I thought Magneto instantly fixed Wolverines claws in the mid-credits scene :p
