Name: Nick Cosh

Bio: I just got back after being away for 10 years. Reason was I was seriously disappointed with comics of that era. I had collected Sandman and Hellblazer but there was nothing else, Love & Rockets had ended so I felt it was a good time to stop. Then 10 years later the BBC were showing a program on the best of British comics and comic creators. People like Alan Moore, Bryan Talbot and Neil Gaiman were being interviewed and this renewed my interest. Loves: Alan Moore's Swamp Thing issues (in fact anything by Mr. Moore), Anything by Frank Miller including Ronin and early Daredevil. Neil Gaiman, Bryan Talbot, Warren Ellis and the Hernandez Bros.Stop the Press!! I think I have fallen in love with the Trade Paperback...no more adverts!

October 22, 2008 10:40 am I collected it when it first came out but this "absolute" edition is so much more accessable. This is Howard Chaykin at his best and others who have also mentioned Ken Bruzenak lettering is superb. I recommend this also as one of the classic comics of the 80's. Please read it, you will enjoy it.
September 3, 2008 7:11 am i am loving this, the story is very good and the art suits the time period, when this comes in every month its the first thing i read. now do i go out and buy this?
July 24, 2008 8:51 am oh god did I just fork out 50 quid for this signed version, Lee at ACE Comics is a good salesman.....BEWARE!!!
July 24, 2008 8:47 am this is a beautiful looking book inside and out, lets hope it reads as good as it looks
July 22, 2008 4:35 am i just might buy this also, i have the original issues but i keep getting distracted by easier to read comics, i found this a tough but rewarding read (chaykin at his best) so having it compiled as a collection will mean its easier to access.....RECOMMENDED!!
June 20, 2008 4:07 am .... and then I heard its going to be Absoluted again!....Im looking forward to that
June 19, 2008 9:30 am Great articles guys, stack week has made me realise something about trades and that is what you have said is that they are meant to be read, they are the comic in its purest (most compact) form, no adverts (which are really pissing me off at the moment as I live in the UK most of the adverts are irrevelvant), no need to rebag the issue you have just read and carefully unbag the next, just read and read and read and enjoy. I was/am one of those guys who had to buy the 1st print floppies (cents editions not pence). but after I had absoluted some of my originals I saw the light. I dont have any children to leave my collection to so why read the comic in an expensive and unfriendly format. From now on to reduce my stack im going to buy trades where possible. Now this may not sound like reducing my stack but its good for the enviroment because I wont need to buy so many bags and boards!!
June 18, 2008 5:48 am Not so bad this time but because the books must be so compressed by the time they get to the UK i still have score marks in the paper where the ribbon is. my LCS has friends in high places so is going to speak to a few people because he said he wouldnt be happy paying £65 for it!. but im not buying them as an investment im buying them to read in this beautiful large format. Cant wait for Ronin later on in the year!!
June 11, 2008 5:47 am lets hope the ribbon bookmark isnt half way across the page, as the last two volumes i have the ribbon scored and stained a nice mark right across the pages....did anyone else get this?
May 28, 2008 7:54 am excellent i have just reread "a dream of a thousand cats" and wanted more Kelley Jones ... i love his work so even if the story is rubbish (which i hope it isnt) it certainly will look beautiful
