February 12, 2013 12:58 pm My thoughts as well I haven't been interested in Marvel's halfassed attempts at cosmic characters since the annihilation and then they killed off two of Marvels cosmic Icon's to only bring one of them back(Adam Warlock if you didn't know who I was talking about). Right now they are only interested in turning out another x-book, avengers, or spiderman series. While I hope that GoG finds success most likely I won't be reading it. Though if Hickman commits to Marvel's cosmic rerun (if one ever comes) I will be on board.
February 5, 2013 8:04 am yes way too many books and more on the way. Its seems like variety is gone everything is a spin-off and how many books do we really need about wolverine?
February 4, 2013 9:04 pm not really interested in the gems going non cosmic but if anybody can write it into something interesting Hickman can.
February 4, 2013 4:45 pm I do agree with some of what he is saying but truthfully as far as I am concerned Marvel is one big gimick fueled to sell the next big film. I jumped on the new Now line just to see what is up and for me its not all that great. I am not a big spiderman or x-man so that may be the case and the hulk was great untill they f'ed it up with all the red hulk and she hulk crap. Its funny that we complain so much about gimicks but ultimatly we still buy in. I mean really how many versions do we need of spiderman and really the idea of doc ock taking over peter's body is dumb (wishing ditko, stan, and claremont would return). Now not to say that I feel that DC is doing a bang up job (because hawkman, hawk and dove, grifter, stormwatch, and various others are crap to) all I am saying is that I think the big two should really sit down and go back to the basics and really look at what built these two empires and focus on making a better product and not following the same tired ass themes that almost killed comics in the 90s.
December 1, 2011 10:26 am No my reasoning for this is why another spiderman book? Hell why another x-man book? Marvel was at its best during the early eighties great concepts, great writing, great characters. Marvel has become a victim of their own sucess. We now have more x-books floating around then they know what to do with and the ones that are well writen will shine till someone comes up with a bright idea for another spin off book destined for failure. My thought process is create good story archs within the books you have and stop spinning off a million new ones. Look at the huge glut of books back in the mid-nineties most of them with the crazy covers and spin offs that later failed. As for Lee I am quite sure he loves those checks but man I am also quite sure he has to shake his head sometimes at the monster he helped build. That is one of the reasons I find it so hard to jump back into the marvel pool unless we are talking about Icon and those books are great. That is not to say that I don't enjoy FF because that is good as well (I haven't read 600 yet but I hope its great). Who knows in the next few years DC might start down the Marvel road and I might jump back.
November 30, 2011 7:43 pm Crap! Marvel can't make a story without using spiderman, x-man, or the avengers. Stan Lee has got to look at this and wonder what the hell has happened to the ship. Sad just really sad.
October 3, 2011 8:28 pm It seems like there is something there, but only time will tell I will give it a few issues before I pull the plug
October 3, 2011 8:26 pm This was bad I am sorry I paid for it. I was hoping for so much more and they just turned it into crap
October 3, 2011 8:21 pm Man....who cares x-men has been one big crap shoot since the days of Claremont and Byrne. Get rid of all these damn books and flesh out these characters and make them cool again.
September 27, 2011 6:11 pm these guys ruined starlin's work after reading the thanos imperative I was done. Maybe after someone cleans up the mess I might jump back on.
