August 2, 2011 7:20 pm Great article, lemme give it a shot:

1. Grant Morrison- dude's still got it after 20+ years in the industry. his imagination regularly puts the young guys to shame

2. Jonah Hex- Seriously, we got 70 issues of this thing. i love this book and am glad its continuing in some fashion with all star western.

3. The return of BKV- when he left there was a serious dip in the quality of books i was reading. Can't wait to see what he and Fiona Staples have in store.

4. Reinforced Bookshelves- to help with the beautiful absolute/omnibus/etc editions publishers have been putting out. Digital may be the future, but as long as they keep coming out with these big books, I'll keep buying them :)

5. Original art- the relative ease with which you can get a sketch or even an original published page from almost any of your favorite artists (and oftentimes at affordable prices) is one of the best perks about being a fan of the medium. The Quitely art pages that i own are my favoritest things ever.

6. Tom Katers- not the most prolific iFanboy columnist but my favorite one. I've enjoyed everything he's ever posted.

7. FF- last two issues notwhithstanding, i'm glad to be reading a legitimately great FF book. This one's gonna be special after all is said and done.

8. Arkham Asylum videogames- The first one was one of the best games that year and the new one looks to be even better. plus, you can play as Dark Knight Returns Batman. Thats worth 50 bucks right there.

9. Mighty Mugs.
August 2, 2011 1:18 pm haven't read ultimate in a loooong time (maybe since the Spidey-Kitty relationship started) but i think this is a great idea. This here is what the Ultimate Universe should be about, making itself a completely different and new version of the 616 instead of the same old stories rehashed over ad nauseum. Really hoping this works out so that the other titles in the line won't be afraid to do branch out from what's expected.
August 2, 2011 1:07 pm very excited to finally meet Grant, and just as excited to finally attend one of the infamous Isotope parties!
August 2, 2011 1:05 pm @365 thats exactly what I do, read only the tie ins to books you're already reading. And honestly, a year from now you're not going to remember what happened in most the tie ins anyway ;)

Also, I don't think Fear Itself has more tie ins than usual, its just that the questionable quality of the event itself has gotten more people to grow tiresome of all the said tie ins. No one ever complains about having too many good books, just bad ones.
August 2, 2011 12:42 am @jimski Whilie I disagree with the idea of this boycott, i disagree more with your petty namecalling of an industry veteran like Steve Bisette. You say his views are idiotic, and he's nothing more than a bearded manchild? Really? Grow up. Or better yet, the next time you decide to chastise a community member or make fun of them for posting an overly negative comment (which you seem to do a lot), look in the mirror.

at least Steve Bisette's actions, though misguided, are based on actual meangful topics like creators rights and restitutions. What was your last champioining cause? Making sure everyone knew that Fear Itself wasn't that bad, ya'll. Bisette could only hope to such aspirations.
July 29, 2011 2:15 pm Have any of the comics apps allowed for customers to actually own a digital copy that they can store on a hard drive? For me thats the last hurdle companies need to clear before i jump in competely.
July 29, 2011 1:21 pm I recently in the past year got bitten by the original art bug and Ron's right; original art varies wildly in price and can be oftentimes quite affordable. For instance, Walking Dead pages are reasonable prices and even art from the big two, such as the aforementioned Immonen, can be had for not much more than you would use to buy an omnibus or absolute. I was noticing about a month ago that he had several gorgeous Fear Itself (even though it sucks) pages up for less than $200.

Also, I recommend Ron and anyone else who's a OA fan to go join ComicArtFans.com where you can post your new purchases for the community to see and also network with other people who buy and sell original art. Its not just for published art either, you can also post your favorite sketches and other crap like that.

Here's my gallery in case anyone's interested :)

July 26, 2011 5:13 pm @Ottobott I remember reading somewhere that Coipel was only planned to do art for the first arc and afterwards Ferry would return as regular artist for Fraction's run. If true, i don't mind the change too much because Ferry was doing a great job as well.
July 19, 2011 9:59 am Haven't really seen too much of Rags Morales' art since Identity Crisis, but based on these covers he's seemed to have changed his style a bit. I'm digging it.

Also, if people are complaining about the writer of ALL STAR FREAKIN SUPERMAN being on this book, then i guess some people really can't be satisfied.
