July 8, 2012 9:51 pm I was hoping you guys would talk about Batman: Earth One. Do OGN's not count for the pick of the week?
July 7, 2012 9:13 pm Put me down for good but not great. Not as good as SM2 but better then SM1 and miles ahead of SM3. Think we may all have to reserve ultimate judgment until see all movies in the trilogy and see how everything plays out. Andrew Garfield is a much better SM then Tobey Maguire. He is actually funny (although he did say "oh boy" at one point which was pretty much all Tobey said in his 3 films). Emma Stone was much more likable then Kirsten Dunst. What is the issue with the alleged change to the origin (specifically Uncle Ben's death) that everyone is talking about? Uncle Ben dies b/c Peter does not stop an armed robber. In the original storyline, didn't the robber kill uncle Ben when he breaks into their home? So the Raimi movie did it differently too and I don't recall anyone crying about that (I'm talking about the 1st movie - I know everyone thought the change in the 3rd movie w/ sandman ultimately being responsible was rightfully criticized).
July 5, 2012 10:58 pm This was good. Could have used a few more flashbacks to Bruce as a kid with Alfred raising and training him. But I assume that will come in the next volume. I liked the new takes on all of the characters and look forward to Vol. 2. Question: Do OGN's count for the pick of the week podcast?
July 2, 2012 10:16 pm It's Snyder and Capullo so it will be great. However, I'm surprised. I thought with TDKR finally arriving that the next story arc would involve Bane. Still waiting for a great Batman vs Bane storyline and I was hoping Snyder and company would accept the challenge.
June 18, 2012 10:26 pm I don't think it has that big of an effect. Whether Bruce's parents were gunned down by a random criminal or as part of a conspiracy, he was born to become Batman and fight crime. A great book called Batman: The Ultimate Evil by Andrew Vachess came out in the 90's. In it Batman learns that it may have been his mother who was targeted that fateful evening because of her work against pedophiles and child abusers. It is a very good story that I recommend for any Batman fans. The fact that the story suggests a different motive behind the death of Bruce's parents did not effect my enjoyment of the book in the slightest.
June 18, 2012 10:11 pm Big fan of Wagner's Trinity. One of my favorites. If you enjoyed Batman vs. The Monster Men Or Batman and the Mad Monk then you will love this story as well. I also liked the start of Winick's Outsiders with Nightwing leading the team. It was good for a couple of story arcs and then it lost me.
June 14, 2012 4:54 pm @ed209AF..Not quite. Afraid I'm with Conor, Josh & Ron re that movie. Best podcast ever.
June 14, 2012 3:21 pm Didn't we already get that scene in Punisher: war zone? And we all recall how that one turned out.
June 14, 2012 3:03 pm Just finished it. Loved it!! Can Snyder just write Batman forever. Was also worried that it was going to be Alfred who was in on it. Then thought Snyder would really come out of Left Field and it would be Gordon. Love that Snyder always keeps us guessing and is not predictable. Between the final chapter of Court of Owls and Dark Knight Rises - Bring on July!
June 13, 2012 9:49 pm By the way, I realize Pixar is not a part of DC animated. I'm just saying the tech is out there to make a damn good JLA animated movie and that might be the way to go.
