INTERVIEW: Fiona Staples Talks SAGA
February 26, 2013 5:44 pm Last time, I promise (probably).
If anyone else here is able to nominate for the Hugo's, please consider Fiona for "Best Professional Artist". I honestly believe if we are able to get her work in front of the Hugo voters, she stands a very good chance.
I know there may not be many eligible nominators here, but maybe there are a few. And if you are into Sci-Fi prose, it actually is a pretty reasonable price for an associate member, vs. being able to read most of the nominated material.
Thanks for indulging me,
John

January 14, 2013 7:29 pm Well, I just got my pin from the Hugo's. And the first thing I did was go and add Fiona Staples to my nominee list for best professional artist. I think she is very deserving, and qualified for this in the area of Sci-Fi and fantasy. I'd encourage others that are eligible to nominate to do the same. I submitted a link to her tumbler image of issue 8's cover as an example of her work. Now I just have to figure out who I want to nominate for the rest of the awards.
I have commented on this before, but I thought it was an appropriate place to do so again.

iFanboy’s Best of 2012: The Best Comic Artists
January 3, 2013 6:22 pm Fiona Staples should be nominated for a Hugo for best professional artist. I mentioned this once before, and I looked it up there is nothing stopping comics as being considered the "publication" for these artists. Yes, I also think Saga itself should be (and probably will be) nominated under the Hugo for best Graphic story, but as far as I can tell no comic artist has been nominated for best professional artists, and Fiona should be.
I'm not sure how much cross over we have here with folks with voting eligibility, but I'm going try pushing it here a bit. By the way if you are into Scifi becoming a supporting member of Worldcon is well worth it for the e-copies of the nominated works alone, as well as being able to vote for the Hugo. I'll probably end up mentioning this a few more times before the March deadline for nominations, but it's worth it.

December 28, 2012 11:35 am Great List!! Little surprised not to see any "Batwoman" or "The Sixth Gun" love, but still great selection.

December 27, 2012 10:55 pm I honestly didn't know anybody could make there lips into a "Joker Smile". That is so spot on.... Just WoW!
The steam punk DC is really cool as well, and I get most of the charcters, but there are a couple I'm not 100% on, like the guy in the upper left?
Thanks for sharing.

Your New Batgirl Writer is…Gail Simone?
December 21, 2012 9:12 pm Agreed, the whole series with her was great, but issue 16 with the "Bat Family History" was probably my favorite single issue of any series in the last 3 years.

December 17, 2012 10:35 pm I've enjoyed all the covers, but I think this is my favorite. It is truly Sci-fi at it's best. I have to double check the rules, but she has my vote for the short list Pro Hugo Artist, for the covers on this series alone.
