Pick of the Week #730 – DC: The New Frontier, Vol. 1
May 26, 2020 11:15 pm Great episode Josh & Conor. I’ve been out of the comics world for 5 years. On your stellar review of DC:NF I renewed my ComiXology sub (an entire discussion itself) and I really agree, it’s such an enjoyable book. I’m not a superhero follower, but Vol 1 is like the perfect comic, it’s how I felt about my gateway into comics 10 years ago with Alex Ross’ Kingdom Come. I love how the storyline of WW and Superman is complicated. Having them ‘weigh in’ on victims of the Vietnam War was unexpected, and gives us pause to really think about what a hero’s role would be, or whom they would truly support and watch. In our wacky doodle times now, having rediscovered comics is what I needed right now.

Designer Rian Hughes on DC’s New Logo
January 28, 2012 12:59 am Don't you think the logo is such a tiny part of a comic? it's the ego of the corporation. "oh, this comic book has a logo I just can't identify with... I'll pass". No one has said that, ever.

CATWOMAN #5
January 27, 2012 10:11 pm I bought the first two issues of this new Catwoman based, I admit, on the scandalous sexiness. I was entirely drawn in, though, with the story. It's one of my favorite titles now. Great fun, and I really like Winick now.

BPRD HELL ON EARTH GODS #3 (OF 3)
January 27, 2012 10:09 pm I thought that it was just another chapter in a larger BPRD book (having just finished this 3 issue miniarc) And is there any relation with this 'Gods' arc and the following 'Monsters' 2 issue arc? Maybe that's the way Dark Horse does the BPRD, they feel compelled to give some sub-title to the particular story lines. I really like BPRD, and yeah I too loved 1946 and 1947.

Designer Rian Hughes on DC’s New Logo
January 27, 2012 10:06 pm Does DC's logo *really* matter? It's not bad, it's not terrific... it's what's inside that counts. Such a non-issue.
