Immaculate (a fitting word) is how i’d describe this Xombie #2. There are so many amazing new ideas and plays on old ones that will leave you wanting more. I’m not going to get into plot details, but its the little things that make me love this book so much. Superpowered nuns sent to quell a problem using a myriad of holy weapons are fighting with the aid of David Kim, a man enhanced by nanites that make him a perfect being at the cost of the raw material around him. David is an interesting character in this issue in particular because his nanite body is shown as just as much a hinderance as a help when he can’t touch someone while he’s injured out of fear of using them as rebuilding material for his own body. Thats about as far as I can go without letting slip the plot, but it’s worth is to check out for one reason, the Rustling Husk. “He” is my new favorite…thing…. in comics. His creation is such a simple idea a writer would get by glancing out his own window, but wow, what a great idea. The art in this issue is unlike anything in any other book i’m reading currently, in particular, the color. Irving draws in wonderful detail and its a treat for the eyes, but the emotion of the scene is captured perfectly in the monochrome color schemes that change depending on location or actions. In the dungeons everything is pink, but it doesn;t come off as girly or soft, instead its very eerie and off putting, as it should be. Whenever Catholic Girl uses her religiously charged powers  the panels are bright gold, creating a dynamic change from panel to panel, pulling you in and making you feel the use of her powers subconciously.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
