Meh.
That's where I'm at with the entire X-Universe right now. Meh.
While Fraction is doing a decent job of controlling almost too many storylines in Uncanny, Carey is dropping the ball on his one basic story in Legacy. Even the allusions and references to previous--and way more interesting--stories, Carey still cannot make me care about Xavier's disbanding the Acolytes. Exodus is giving up the fight. Am I happy about this? Sad? Disconcerted? I don't know. I don't care.
This title could almost be called "Inside the Mutant's Mindspace starring Professor Xavier" but then again I don't think that would look great on the front of a comic. But really this book has just become a formula, Charles meets _______. ______ and Charles walk around in _______'s head.
Maybe it's just me. Maybe this hasn't happend as much as I think it has but it definately feels like a hackneyed plot at this point. The only thing that even piqued my interest for a moment was when Stormin' Norman Osborne shows up at the end. Interesting. But can someone tell me why the preview art for the next issue stars Gambit, Rogue and Danger? Is this being continued in a new X-Book?
It's times like this that made me wish I had the willpower to quit the X-Men. But alas...I don't. Maybe Charles Xavier could walk with me around my head and give me an idea of how I can throw down about 12 bucks a month.
I forgot to mention the art. Phil Briones does a good job here with the different incarnations of the X-Men and balancing a story that is way to jam packed with cameos. His art isn't stellar but it works well and his layouts are strong as they move the story along at a good pace. His work pulled my over all rating up from a 2.
Art: 4 - Very Good
"Maybe Charles Xavier could walk with me around my head and give me an idea of how I can throw down about 12 bucks a month."
Hahahaha. I feel the same way.
