In this issue, Carey takes me back to where I first met the X-Men: Australia. The late 80’s/early 90’s “Dead X-Men” run by Claremont and Silvestri was my introduction to the world of Marvel mutants, and catching a glimpse of the Reavers again immediately got my fanboy juices flowing. Too bad this issue was boring and the art looked rushed. Don’t get me wrong. I think Carey has done a good job with this title so far. I like that this book is so tightly connected to the past. It’s just that any X-Men story that takes place in Australia will never compare to the stories I read when I was 8. So until I start “Benjamin Buttonin'”, this story arc is going to be a letdown for me.
