I'm not sure what upset me more about this issue, the fact that Boom-Boom died, or that she died dressed like such a harlot. Sure, Tabitha always dressed provocatively, but in one panel, the artist was mere inches away from giving us a full-on "Basic Instinct"-style beaver shot. I'm usually okay with the art in this book, as dark and splatter happy as it is, but the near upskirt and the down-the-brassier shot were distracting moments in an otherwise tensely written scene. That being said, the actual story was pretty exciting. I loved the scene were Cyclops explains how the team's time travel devices work. Befitting the nature of this book, the devices don't merely conk out after a certain amount of time, apparently, they can also kill you. So needlessly extreme. So perfectly X-Force. Also, the "I'm gonna have to pull you out at a seconds notice if we find Cable" set-up was a pretty obvious attempt to create a sense of urgency, and as telegraphed as it was, it still worked. But to get back to Boom-Boom's death, I'm sure it can be looked at as just another example of the death-a-minute storytelling trend that seems to be in vogue nowadays, but in this instance, it didn't come off as gimmicky.
