The Wonder Woman I’ve been waiting for is here. Wearing the right, slightly modified outfit, she’s witty, smart, powerful, strong, beautiful and she kicks ass.
The gods speak intelligently but with a refined modernity that I found myself chuckling at more than once. It’s like Melrose Place on Mt. Olympus, catty and snippy and lots of power plays, girl fights and bastard children… my kind of story.
The dialogue in the first three pages was delicious, winding up with “That cockless coop, improperly named… Paradise Island”. Brilliant!
Strife looks like a sloshed Sinead O’Connor but I like her.
Azzarello is writing the shit out of this book, and I’m digging the Cliff Chiang art more than I expected to, and Matthew Wilson’s coloring should be commended as well.
The book’s a solid 5 and I for one am thrilled. Wonder Woman is the reason I love comics, or more appropriately, Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman is the reason I got into comics in the first place.
Very happy with this aspect of the New 52. Welcome to the big leagues, Wonder Woman. The original Princess Diana. You’ve belonged here for a long time, I’m glad you’re getting your due.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 5 - Excellent
