I’m likely stating the obvious when I say that Wonder Woman is a gorgeous book. Cliff Chiang specializes in gorgeous. It probably says so on his business card. I would be willing to suffer through all manner of terrible writing if this man was drawing the pages. Lucky for me Brian Azzarello is anything but a terrible writer.

What I loved best about this issue was that it expanded Diana’s world just enough to keep me hungry for next month. Azzarello introduced new characters, while still adding another layer to existing ones. He gave us a little action, a bit of back-story, and a taste of the kind of good old-fashioned jealous scheming that only a goddess scorned can do. If this issue is any indication, I think this might turn out to be exactly the kind of Wonder Woman story I’ve always wanted to read.

  1. This is definitely a five star book. Best Wonder Woman I’ve read in a while.
