Wolverine goes on a pub crawl with Captian America, while Deathlock wanders around New York killing. This had a nice range of moments, from the quiet scenes where Cap and Logan share drinks to the ruthless violence of the Deathlok cyborg. 

The bar scenes are done with a subtle, soft touch. Wolverine tries to express how important Cap is to his world view without dropping his macho exterior. There is drinking, mumbling, and silent panels where the two are thinking what to say next or pondering what has been said. It feels very real. In the end Wolverine probably feels he opened up a bit too much so he mans up with a proper bar fight. You really get a feel for this old, but oddly balanced relationship between these two men that are both misplaced in time. There is great respect, but at some level Cap knows Logan goes to a place he can not follow, while Logan kinda wishes he could be more like Cap (not that he would ever admit that) but knows that is just not how he is wired.

Juxtaposed against this deftly handled bromance is Deathlok hunting down and executing future heroes or their parents. These scenes are absolutely and unrelentingly brutal. The first guy is a clear Batman reference/parody (Slag?) who, after he is cold-bloodedly executed, has his head callously tossed into a trash can. Then we get a young couple on the cusp of falling in love after a bad date. And when Deathlok walks into that Maternity Ward? Chills. There is a definite Terminator vibe and the twist at the end really does give you the 'Oh shit, how do they get out of this one' feel.

I really like Garney and the colors-right-on-pencils style they have chosen. At times things feel very rough and raw, which I think works well for a Wolverine comic. I loved last issue as well (C.P. Smith) so hopefully this comic is coming into its own now. I still have the minor (petty) complaint that these stories generally have not felt "important", i.e. while all right on their own you did not feel they were really fitting into the larger picture of the life of Wolverine or Marvel continuity in general. With all the stuff happening with Cap in so many other titles (Avengers, Cap, Siege), I have a hard time believing the Deathloks will even be mentioned anywhere else.
